I had my AC tune up and the company wanted to install something similar to this for 2k. I found this identical unit and installed it myself. Very easy to install and i was glad to see when i cut the hold mold on the coil pan. I hope this thing does its job and kills all of the mold. I doubt that it will actually scrub the air or filter it since it is only 4 inches inside a 2 foot duct. All in all even if just the light works i will be happy.

The setup was pretty straight forward, although my placement had to be a pain in the butt. I haven't noticed anything different when it comes to air quality so it's hard to say if it works or not. I assumed I would have noticed something different after paying a few hundred dollars. I'll update if anything changes but so far, not very impressed.

My husband has a lot of allergies and he suffers from them pretty badly even when he takes medicines. After he had some rather severe allergic reaction including severe swelling in his face and nasal passages we started looking at other things we could do to help with his allergies beyond what we were already doing. We already have air purifiers that run in most of the rooms and we try to minimize dusts and molds but every additional bit of help decreases his allergy reactions. We decided to try adding this to our furnace to help clean thing before it went to the filters and before it circulate upstairs with the other air purifiers. It didn't make a phenomenal difference in our air quality, but it did make a modest difference for my husband's allergies. Every little bit counts and it could be the difference between another severe allergy attack and mild ones controlled through his normal meds. This isn't terribly hard to instal but I would say that 15 minutes is at best the time a professional with experience installing this might take. I would say it's more like an hour for a DIY homeowner like myslef with limited experience and that's when I had my handyman father help me. It requires cutting a hole into part of the furnace which is already about 15 minutes in itself, installing the plate, maybe another 5 minutes. Then you insert the actual light/filter, maybe another 5 minutes. And of course that doesn't include the time to read the instructions make the appropriate measurements and clean-up things. So, yeah, more than the time they suggest but not terribly long or difficult. You will need a nearby outlet to plug this into though.

Installed this on home main AC unit. My unit had some mildew build up before and these type of purifiers are supposed to help with this. Now the carbon filter that is mentioned here is much smaller than the size of the filter that goes into my air handler; so I don't think the carbon filter does anything. The UV is supposed to do something; however it does run all the time even when the unit is off. The good thing is that it plugs straight into the wall so I didn't have to do any wiring. The downside is that there is no normal power plug near my Air handler.... so I ended up taking this back out while waiting for my contractor to come and install a power plug near the handler. I couldn't detect any specifically better smelling air, but I did notice that sometimes when turning the unit on for the first time in the day that it didn't have any smell at all so maybe that is the device working? Hard to say because it depends no the outside atmosphere. All in all it will be reinstalled again when the new plug is available.

The only reason for 2 starts only is because the item I received is used! I was going to return it but it more hassle for me return it because it will take 2 weeks after they receive it for my refund.

Contacted the seller to get issue resolved. I bought two of these and one got extremely hot (fire hazard hot) to the point I noticed it because I could smell it. The ballast of the one was relatively cool compared to the other. The bulb on the hot one was also no longer blue but instead purple. I've contacted the manufacturer a d am awaiting their response. The air purifiers in my home were actually the first thing to alert me to the problem and I'm glad they did, it may have taken me much longer to notice otherwise. Will update when I hear back from the manufacturer as to what the issue was and how to handle it. Update: got a replacement from the company and it's been smooth sailing ever since. Updated to 4 stars after the initial issues. Must have gotten a dud.

I was previously quoted a similar unit by an HVAC company. Buying and installing this unit was 1/3 of the cost I was quoted. I had access to the necessary tin snips and was able to get this installed in about 45 minutes. I was cleaning my furnace room at the same time so my install time was more like 15-20 minutes. One picture shows metallic pieces inside the bulb. I wasn't positive but it looked like mercury. The base mounts securely and the bulb ballast locks in nicely. This is a thoroughly designed professional grade product. I couldn't have asked for a better packaged UV whole house air purifier. I can't say this eliminated odors as there are too many variables. I will say the science checks out as these are included in a lot of commercial hvac systems. I will keep an eye on the bulb for longevity and update this review when necessary. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and refer anyone considering this technology to pick up the Haven Plus.
