Description

The AgriOtter Energizer powers a fence line to keep pets and livestock corralled while preventing predators from accessing your land. Connected to AC power, it electrifies up to 10 miles of single-strand wire and is designed to work in heavily weeded areas. Low-impedance technology permits increased joules on the fence line, enabling current to press through vegetation and weeds to keep the fence energized. It can be used with all wire types, including poly wire, poly tape or poly rope.

  • Working fine so far, nice strong "zap"
Update 2: The AC to 12vdc adapter ("wall wart") was unprotected at the end of an extension cord during a big rainstorm. The adapter, which looks like it is sealed, filled with water and died. So be sure to protect the adapter from weather. The fence charger was also exposed to rain, but it survived just fine. Of course it should also be protected if possible. Update 1: A bear finally decided to test the fence. She didn't like it. Video attached. This is a mama bear with two cubs that visits often. (At least I think this is Mama bear, I'm not very good at identifying individual bears). The bear touches the wire out of frame, but comes running back through the picture at a dead run. Original: So far I'm happy with this fence charger/energizer. It's way overkill for my setup, but I am trying to keep bears away from my chickens. My tester pegs at 10kv everywhere on the fence. Now we just have to wait for a bear to show up to see how it works for deterring bears. Note: I used a 4ft copper ground rod into moist soil. Longer would be better. The included "rod" is junk. Also, as someone else mentioned, the post studs are too darned short, but they can be made to work. Charger is connected to RentaCoop poultry fence that surrounds three sides of the coop and forms an outside run with a passthrough from coop. Front of coop is unprotected for now, but I'm working on fixing that (with the green fencing seen on the ground in video). For now the chickens still spend every night in the coop in the barn, this setup is meant to keep them safe during the day. They free-range when I'm there to keep an eye on them, but go into this coop when I'm not around and into the barn at night. I tried powering the charger with a 100w solar panel (plus battery and solar controller), but its just too shady at the coop. I finally gave in and ran a 100ft extension cord to power it with AC. The only negative is that this charger is a bit dangerous to small critters. Last month a bear broke into the barn and killed two chickens before I chased it off. So I bought another of these and used it to energize the metal gates at both ends. So far it has killed 5 toads, 2 millipedes and a cricket that all tried to crawl under the gates. The chicken fencing also killed a toad. I will raise the gate a bit to increase the gap and hopefully stop killing small critters. ... show more

  • I'm shocked!
This was purchased because I don't own a cat, I do own a bunch of birds. Seeing as people don't keep their cats in their own yards, and seeing as cats like to eat birds, I needed a plan to rid my yard of cats. I won't get into detail of how I set my electric wires up so as to deter the cats, but what I did worked. Then again, I had to spend the money and do the work of making wire holders that would work all because other people's cats coming in my yard for the birds and to use it as a kitty litter. The alternative was send the cats to cat heaven. Instead, I created a perimeter of electric fencing. When I tested this set up, I was shocked! Ha ha. Shocked at the amount power that was sent through the wire. I was concerned when I purchased it that maybe not enough Jules. It was more than plenty of power. I set up three runs of wires at almost 200 feet each run and buried a couple 4 ft. copper ground rods and this thing, although appears somewhat cheap, did the job. It's not the most heavy -duty electric fence charger, but it worked well for what I needed. I did not want to spend a fortune. Good purchase for me and my needs. ... show more

  • Dead after less than six months
I purchased this Feb 21, 2022 and didn't get around to installing it until May. I checked on it today Oct. 19, 2022 and it's dead. So I got less than six months out of this Energizer. I was initially so impressed by the high output and ease of insulation that I purchased a slightly less powerful one on August 19, 2022 for a different fence line. I regret that now but will be replacing the dead one with that one. Hopefully I can get at least a full six months from *that one*. Reasons why I initially bought Agriotter: They are a Canadian based company and I support not sending manufacturing overseas. Very high output, and when it worked my animals respected this fence and so did predators. Very reasonable price. The ability to easily switch to a battery if needed. Reasons why I won't be buying another: Low life expectancy. I haven't asked if they would replace it because I don't want another Agriotter Energizer. It's not worth the risk of my livestock's lives having to police my Energizer. ... show more

  • Worked great, then died
Update.... The company sent a new unit within 3 days! Customer service is excellent!! I have updated my rating for this. I have had this since February. It worked great to protect my chickens from my dogs, and predators. Yesterday I noticed it is no longer working. No support information.

  • It works and it’s water proof, price is very affordable.
OK so I had a $300 fence charger that quit on me. I have to send it back. It’s got a lifetime warranty but while I’m sending it back, I need my Fence charged so I bought this little agri otter fence charger and I’m very impressed. Not only will knock the crap out of you. It’s on and keep the goats and animals in or out it’s completely waterproof. How do I know? I wanted to protect it and the battery so I put both of them outdoors inside battery boxes the kind of use on the boat, somehow the one with the charger was full of with water after a heavy rain storm. water was 3 or more inches deep and the agriotter was underwater for the most part. I thought well this is a loss. First I disconnected it, then I pulled it out and it was still working. It was very impressive that it would be submerged for more than a day and come out and work perfectly. I’m very impressed if I needed another one I’d buy this little charger, it may not have some of the bells and whistles , but it works plant strong on my 1300 lf of wire net fencing. Not to mention the price is very affordable. ... show more

  • Updated review from 1 star to 5
After emailing the company about my issue, they responded and sent me a replacement. The new unit is noticeably higher quality, with a better power plug port and different looking front. Old review: I was really excited to use this energizer but after 1 month of it barely working it stopped turning on completely. The LED light did turn on when I first plugged it in, but the shock was weak so I thought my problem was the ground. I purchased a 7 foot grounding rod and put it over 4 feet into the ground and attached my ground wire with a grounding clamp. The next time I plugged in the energizer it failed to turn on, no LED light and no shock at all. I emailed the company Agri-Otter but have not received a response yet. I spent hundreds of dollars on accessories like a grounding rod, t-posts, fencing, insulators and wiring just to find out the energizer doesn’t work. ... show more

  • Short lifespan, needs a design improvement.
Got a season out of it, then it sat for a long time. Meanwhile, it seems some components failed due to shorting out at the barrel jack. I tested individual components of the circuitry, and it seems like a cascade of failed diodes. It is hard to justify fixing it, given the design would allow this to happen again, even if all the diodes are replaced, so I'll be buying another brand. ... show more

  • Good for horses
Powerful and reliable! This energizer is perfect for my fencing needs—covers my pasture easily with consistent power. I love the flexibility of running it on either AC or battery, which makes it great for different setups. Installation was simple, and it delivers a strong, steady pulse to keep livestock secure. Solid build, weather-resistant, and excellent performance—highly recommend for farms and ranche ... show more
