  • Very real and very good
Worked very nicely as advertised, a smidge worried I might get a fake product, but not to worry it is very and very good. I will talk about every last detail I can think of here. The optic itself is very simple to operate it has an off, on, then IR on setting for a short range beam. The IR flash beam can either toggle on or just manual twist for quick on. There is both an auto and manual gain, not much else to add there. The mounting spot looks like it uses common camera mounting threads from camera devices. It also appears to have an auto-off feature on the mounting point, it runs wires through the mount to the Skull Crusher it comes with. The Skull Crusher itself doesn't let you flip the NOD up, but you do have some adjustment options with the arm and distance to your eye. For mine personally the mount will shift a little from left to right on the QD point, so it could probably be better, but I'm sure I'll figure out a solution on my own. It also comes with a carry bag with some goodies to get you started. 1. A pretty basic shoulder strap 2. A Skull Crusher/Head Harness for head mounting 3. Forehead pads for the head harness in three different sizes 4. Cleaning cloth 5. One AA Battery 6. A front sacrificial lense cap 7. A mounting arm for the NOD to connect to the head harness 8. A plastic ring I'm not entirely sure what it's for 9. About 3 feet of black gutted 550 cord, extra brilliant 10. An inspection sheet with a date on it that shows everything they have checked including details like nitrogen purging, and any artifacts inside the tube and their location. 11. An instruction manual that explains how to do everything with it, down to fine details. Tube quality: For Lv3 tubes the artifacts are quite small and hard to notice. You have to focus on something like a white wall or the sky to even notice. The blemishes for mine include a (very minor) single scratch near the edge, and black dots that very tiny (showed on the inspection sheet the number, size, and location of the black specks). This is a very high quality product, and very close if not a one to one of a standard issue PVS-14 from the military. The tubes might be a roll of the dice, but as it turns out they haven't given me broken or scraped up blotted out crappy tubes, they will try to give you something good for shelling out. So I think anybody who wants Lv3 tubes still have fairly good odds. Skull Crusher is as bad as people have heard, but starter is starter, and I'm personally fine with it, you can cover it up with a hat at the very least. Good luck and don't forget to dummy tie your NOD. TL;DR The blemishes on the tube are minor and feels good. Skull Crusher and mount kinda sucks. Bright, effective, and simple to operate. ... show more

  • Great value.
I'm not going to tell you that these are the greatest PVS-14's on the market, but they are an absolute value for the price and work extremely well. They are physically exactly the same as one's I have used in my service in the Army except for a small spec in the upper left field of view that is nearly unnoticeable. The gate adjustment works great so the amplifier gives a good adjustments from very dim to extremely bright. The focus range when adjusted for long range vision allows for a mostly clear close view that allows for functional arm length performance. Can be focused in close for the ability to read a map or notebook. The only thing that I could have possibly dropped a point of is that the illuminator is weak, it works good inside of buildings in total darkness (no light at all) but not as bright as I remember mine working, but yet very functional. I would have included a pic of the view but couldn't focus my phone to show the clarity and didn't want it to show a crappy out of focus shot. All in all, I would absolutely purchase another one, I am very satisfied with the performance and I recommend them to anyone who can afford them. I just wanted to add a word of advice - a GOOD night vision device is on the top of the list of "essential" tactical equipment. the advantages of being able to see CLEARLY in the darkness is the most valuable tactical advantage you can have. The ability to see in the dark without a flashlight or any other device that could potentially expose your location is a value beyond any other piece of tactical equipment. I would rather have NV and a .22, than any tactical rifle and be blindfolded by darkness... especially when the power is out! ... show more

  • What you will get..
You will get a PVS-14, a non-MOLLE bag, a head band mount sized for a child, and an instruction book, nothing more. The unit that I received, a gen III, was bright and sharp on a full moon night it had several artifacts one was slightly annoying but not enough for me to send this unit back. I'm giving it a low rating because of the $50 worth of missing items! ... show more
