My first impression of this scooter is that for the price, you get a whole lot of scooter. When I was growing up, the good ‘ole Razor small metal scooters (ankle destroyers) were the standard. This scooter has a heavy duty construction with very few parts not being metal; wheels, handle bars, lock for folding mechanism. If there’s more I can’t immediately find it. It’s built well. Handle bars aren’t cheap foam like what I remember from my childhood scooters that would fall off as your sweaty hands ate into them. The rubber is heavy, pliable, and *comfortable*. The wheels are a large diameter, larger than most scooters around this price point and slightly less, making it easier to move. They do not use tires. The material will wear out over time. Luckily, Aero states that you can replace the wheels. They also light up. As far as I’m aware, they don’t have batteries in them, and actually utilize the rotation of the wheel to energize the lights. I couldn’t find a lot of information about this, but I think that’s right. You also get grip tape on the foot deck, like a skateboard. The brake is foot operated on the back and works really well. The material of the foot brake, like most of the rest of the scooter, is metal. Took me 30 seconds to set it up once pulling it out of the box. It does have a 176 lbs weight limit, so I think this is more geared towards kids and teens, but many adults can find under that limit. I don’t, as I’m about 10 lbs over the limit, but I still had a fun ride nonetheless. I assume it probably won’t hold up long term with my weight, though, and though the frame is tough and confidence inspiring, I’ve no doubt my weight will result in excessive wear on the wheels. Only one thing to note, the adjustment lever that allows you to move the handle bar up and down to accommodate the rider’s height, has a little play in it, and I did find that on my first adjustment, the wheel was slightly off center versus the handlebars. We just went for a 2 mile test ride with 3 kids, each taking around 10 minutes testing this scooter. For comparison, we brought along 2 other scooters including a lean to steer one, and a very comparable scooter from another brand. My kids testing are boys aged 7-11. Build Quality: out of the box, this scooter is the nicest one we've owned. The build is very solid, there's virtually no assembly (pop the handles in and unfold it, you're ready to go) which I always appreciate as a busy dad. It's rated to 175 lbs so should be plenty sturdy enough for any kid. The wheels are nice and big, so those little pebbles in the road should not derail the fun. And speaking of unfolding, it's very easy. There's a little catch to pull and it just pulls apart for quick storage or carrying. There's a little carrying strap included that one can snap on and off with the ease, but the strap isn't something we would use in our routines. Nice that it's included, however. Ride quality: This is where my boys noted a big difference. They all were talking about how smooth it felt, thanks to the bump absorbing shock on the front. Really, I didn't know if it would make much of a difference but they all were talking about how much smoother this rides vs the other comparable scooter we have (which is a nice one) that doesn't have an included shock. Big win with the design of that! I love the color - it's pleasant without being too loud. The wheels light up for added night time visibility which I love as a parent. I wouldn't rely solely on those lights to be seen on a road, but on pathways and sidewalks it's a very fun addition. We're super happy with this scooter and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or invest our dollars in another one designed by this company. Highly recommended! ... show more
