  • a great adult scooter for quick errands and exercise
Style: A230L Black with Disc Brake
While I don't write product reviews often, I had to make some comments on this one: as a middle aged man who is an avid bike rider and motorcycle rider for my main transportation; I bought this with the idea of finding a decent manual scooter that looks and feels solid as well as being aesthetically styled ( not cheap or childish looking) that would be fitting and sturdy enough for an adult, this scooter does not disappoint ! it is very smooth riding and easy to use. - as for those who say that the shock ''bottoms out'' please note that you can easily tighten that by an adjustable crescent wrench on the top bolt, turn it clockwise til you get the desired firmness and you are good to go. this is legit a decent commute scooter for those looking to save on gas for short trips, to get more exercise, or to travel with on plane or bus trips (as checked luggage, not carry-on), or just to scoot around with your kids, or nieces and nephews. buy it, it really did impress me when I pulled it out of the box and when I took it for a quick ride up the street. The 9 inch front wheel really adds to the smoothness when going over bumps or sidewalk cracks which is an added bonus. ... show more

  • Strong, Sleek, Fast, Easy to fold/Unfold
Style: A230L Black with Disc Brake
This is a great scooter! I originally bought for my son, but I'm keeping for myself. it's taller, and has a stronger feel than the traditional scooters. I like that the handle bars are easier to fold, and the entire folding assembly is much easier and better. The ride is smooth, and fast. once you ride this, you can't use the other ones! ... show more

  • Awkward & Rear Suspension Scrapes the Ground
Style: A230L Black with Disc Brake
Definitely not the best scooter for heavier folks. I'm not that close to the weight limit either. The suspension on the rear makes it awkward to ride, but also means that if you go over any slightly uneven terrain, the rear suspension or kick board bottoms out. I rode one ride and just going from the road to a driveway (over a concrete gutter) was causing the road to eat up parts of the rear suspension housing. It does ride smooth other than than, ... show more

  • Hopefully great for commute?
Style: A230L Black with Disc Brake
My first-ever kick scooter like this, so I’ll update rating, ride dynamics and quality after I figure out how to ride it. I’m late 40s & not in great shape so mostly hoping I just don’t break anything or die in traffic :P I bought the A230 “adult” one to speed up the mile-ish I’d otherwise need to walk between home/office and public transit stations. Hoping to turn my 30min commute into a 15min one, and also make it easier to explore new places. Rollerblades aren’t allowed on the trains, and it’s a hassle to take & lock up my bike. I wanted something affordable, portable/foldable and lightweight, which cut out electric scooters, and also wanted to still get some exercise if I’m not walking. This seemed like the ideal option. I also considered the Razor Air 5 or something and the similar Aero model that both have a similar taller adjustable handle, but those lacked the hand brake and don’t adjust as tall as this one. I liked that this one has both a hand disc brake like a bike (which I’m used to) and the foot brake (which I’m not, but seems like the “standard” for these). Out of the box it needs almost no setup - attach the front wheel, flip it open, pop the handlebars in, then adjust the height. Main hiccup here was needing to route the brake line properly along the front of the upright tube when clicking the handles in place so there’s enough slack to raise the handlebars. Also, it’s not clear if it actually matters which direction the front wheel is supposed to face, like if the plastic spokes require a certain orientation or not? I initially put the wheel on “backwards” compared to the rear wheel & pictures so flipped it around. If it doesn’t matter I guess you can flip it occasionally to even out wear & tear a bit? Agree w/others that the rear suspension is a bit awkward, but I have limited frame of reference for it. I’m ~200lb, so up there but not quite max, and it did seem to come close to scraping when just bouncing on it. Even if you tighten the bolt underneath it at the top of the spring that only goes so far. I cranked it down as far as I could w/a ratchet & there’s still quite a bit of “springiness” to it. Not sure yet if I’ll like that or not. Also not sure yet if I like the smooth plastic wheels over a model that rubber knobby ones more like a bike. These seem likely to be too slippery. While looking into rollerblades it sounded like bigger is better for bumpy concrete, but specific hardness matters too so we’ll see how these work out. I assume there will be a need to replace the wheels after a year or so, but right now I’m not finding spare parts listed anywhere. Brake pads too. I hope this isn’t a “throw away the whole thing” kinda deal. Are parts available?? Overall, I like it so far. Great option for the money. Will update after more extensive use. ... show more
