  • Buckle up.
Let me tell you something. Get ready to work. It’s all fun and games for the first 3 minutes. Then you realize you can’t walk normal. You have to high step like you’re going through tires at the 1984 NFL combine. Over, and over, and over. I made sure the spikes were tight, very tight. 9 steps and they were loose. But doesn’t matter cause you’re walking like a horse in mud so who cares. As you can see I put in more steps then an Italian wine maker. Nothing broken, nothing to be mad at, good solid “shoe”. We’ll see how the lawn looks. Good holes left behind. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. Then again I wouldn’t wish a lawn obsession on them either. Oh well. Couple beers and 2 days of soreness it’ll all be worth it .. maybe. God speed. ... show more

  • Easy Method to Aerate the Lawn
I picked up a pair of these to provide aeration to my lawn. Assembly was easy. Attaching them to shoes or boots is easy. Once the spikes are in place and you’re strapped in, just go for a walk around the yard. You can immediately feel the 2” spike penetrating the soil. I find they work best when walking like Frankenstein, lifting the feet straight up, otherwise you could tear up the soil a bit. But it is easy to get use to. I am already seeing some benefit as the lawn is greening up nicely. The one bit of warning is to go slow, especially if you’re on rocky soil like I am here in New Hampshire. If you come down on ground that has stone or rock less than the length of the spokes, the shoe penetration comes to a quick unexpected halt. And if that rock is on the side of the shoe, you could possibly twist something like an ankle. Just be aware of it. ... show more

  • Harder than you think
I wanted a simple solution instead of always renting equipment at $110 per day. I thought this would be a solution and, in some ways it is. PROs: It does the job for sure, it works as intended CONs: It's NOT easy, it's harder on the knees and joints, just be forewarned After the first time using them, I bent 4 spikes and had to bend then back in order to replace them. I probably hit some hard dirt or a tree root. ... show more

  • These Shoes are GREAT!
Look, I do NOT write reviews! I gave up after I wrote some negative reviews about other products that I bought from Amazon but Amazon removed them. But, after getting these shoes today and trying them out, I had to write a review! Not only do they work, they work like a charm! The soil in my state is full of rocks. Nonetheless, these shoes allowed me to work around the rocks and STILL get my lawn aerated. The straps remained secure and never missed a beat. NOW! There is one issue that I have with the shoes. When I added the spikes, several of the spikes did not tighten. Instead, the expansion plug placed into the shoe and is supposed to accept the spike, stripped. Nonetheless, the shoes worked. The spikes did their jobs. ... show more

  • Its tough work but gets the job done.
Goes together easy and you can buy replaceable spikes. Keep a long straight screwdriver (or whatever) with you as if the ground is too wet will take a chunk of grass and get stuck on your foot. If the ground is too dry will not even go in and if its too wet just makes a mess, so keep that in mind when you do it. When the ground is just perfect you need to go straight down and up to make sure you dont bend the spikes. My neighbors were laughing at me but when my yard looks awesome they wont be laughing any more j/k. I put down 50lbs of seed after I got done and will update this post in a few weeks to let you know if they really work.... Overall happy with the purchase... ... show more

  • Not very difficult to use.
I really liked the simple concept of these aerator shoes. All this time I never knew that if your soil is dry and hard, your lawn will slowly turn brown and then die. No matter how much water you put on it, no matter how much fertilizer you apply. It won't matter. Once you loosen up your soil, your lawn will get the air, water and nutrients it desperately needs especially out here in California. My lawn really looked thirsty for years. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Once I purchased these aerator shoes, I used them every 2 weeks and noticed a big difference. I can't wait to see the difference once I put fertilizer on my lawn! ... show more

  • Cheap, but works fine
They came quickly very well packaged. They are easy to strap on and I had no trouble walking around most of my yard, the part with grass of course. As long as you follow common sense preparations e.g. wear shoes that provide decent ankle support, step straight down and raise your foot straight up before placing it forward. you should have no troubles. Pictures are from after walking around most of my .2 acre lot (809 square meters) I expect to get another couple of uses from these with no trouble. The package includes 2 spare "cleats", a small wrench to make sure the cleats are snug and a storage bag for the sandals and cleats. All in all a very good product for the price. That said I will be surprised if these last more than two years. The construction is reasonable for what they are, but these aren't something you'll be passing down to future generations ... show more

  • A bit overconfident w/ only 2 extra spikes...
Overall feel is great. The straps snug the shoes to my boots, nothing feels like it's coming loose while walking the yard. They definitely penetrate/perforate the ground and collect debris. On first wearing (2wks ago), right after snuggly installing the brand-new spikes into the shoes, in the soggy/mudpit of a 20ftx30ft yard I'm working to get grass growing in on, 2 spikes bent, one in each shoe. No tree roots or rocks 2" down as far as I can tell, every step felt squishy, not solid. So... both spikes replaced w/ the spare spikes. Will be stomping through yard again this evening/tomorrow to push some of the seed/feed I've got laid out a bit deeper into the ground before it rains in another few days. Yard is a bit drier for this pass, expecting more spikes to fail. I figure the shoes can still be worn, just a less dense perforation pattern. -- Will be reaching out to manufac to get more spare spikes if possible. Will update review w/ their response to demo the customer service response. Cheers =) ... show more
