We live in the US Southwest, and everyone around here seems to have string lights hanging from their patio, gazebo or around their backyard off of poles just like these. The pole is quite sturdy and durable. It's really easy to put together, and the pieces allow you to get just the right height you're looking for. I wish I had been more careful in looking at the installation options before choosing this item, because it's missing the option to stake it into the soil/dirt/clay. Having a desert landscaped backyard, we weren't able to install this.

This is an attractive and easy to assemble light pole. I love that this has some flair to it with a decorative top piece that also serves to securely hold the light strings. The pole screws together in sections which allows for the height to be adjusted. . I went ahead and took it to the full height. I have a gazeebo on my deck that has solar lights that wrap around the top of it. I also have solar lights wrapping around my pool. I wanted to run a line from the Gazebo across the front of the deck appearing to blend into those around the pool. But I had nowhere to attach the other end unless they crossed over the pool. I didn’t really like that for safety reasons. This pole was a welcome answer. I mounted it to the far end of the deck and was quickly able to run lights from the gazeebo to the pole. I didn’t have any trouble with installing it to my deck as everything that I needed to do so, was included. I would note that if securing it to a deck floor you will want to be sure you have it attached to a joist not just a deck panel. While most light strands are not overly heavy, they do pull and over time could cause problems if the pole is mounted only into a deck board. Especially if you get at kind of heavy wind storms. This light pole worked out great for me!

This is a really nice pole… (yeah.. I said it.) Seriously though, it’s TALL, sturdy and quite nice looking in the black (get your mind out of the gutter..) which accents my house nicely. It lifts the lights high enough that even someone in the 6ft range can easily walk under them without concern. We added this for better height and there are multiple ways to attach it to the ground, depending on your needs. You can vary the heights by taking out a section too. We used the all the tubes and they screw in deep enough to not be wobbly.. (just can’t get out, can you? *sigh) Anyway, yes, buy it. You can also hang plants on it to further decorate the random pole holding up your party lights. Now go grab a beer, put in some tubes and enjoy your mosquito infested, overly humid backyard.. 😉

This pole means business. Thick metal, rust-proof coating, and an adjustable height that makes it perfect for everything from patio string lights to over-the-top garden parties. It stays upright like it’s anchored in stubbornness itself, even in gusty wind. Assembly was painless, and once it’s in place, it’s rock solid. No leaning, no wobbling, just a dependable perch for your lights. I’ve already tested it with heavier strands and it didn’t flinch. If you want the kind of backyard setup that survives both bad weather and rowdy guests, this is your pole. End of story.

These types of poles are ideal for suspending string lights above your patio railing. This pole is sturdy, and well-suited for that purpose. It assembles easily, with the most difficult part being attaching the bracket to an outside post without falling or dropping parts. The individual segments are about 16" each, so if you are aiming for a specific height - it will need to be a multiple of 16 (plus a few inches for the top hook!). The segments screw together snugly, leaving no wiggle - so the pole looks straight. I like the double hook, as it helps to hold the cord in place when it's threaded. The black finish looks nice, and I think will give this pole a life of many seasons. My reason for the 4-star review: If you are trying to mount this to a post rather than the handrail (see photos), you will potentially run into issues. If you use the base, the post, it won't fit flush against the rail (which is how the brackets must be used). If you don't use the base, it will mount flush, but if the post has a cap or rail, it will be in the way of the post. In the case of my deck railing, only the top rail is flat. The bottom rail is mounted vertically. With my deck railing, if I did this, I would only use one mounting bracket on the top rail, and the base. These two mount points should be adequate for most installations. Overall, I like this pole, but it doesn't work for my installation needs. As long as you are clear how to mount it with your decking. I would recommend.

This is a single pole for hanging string lights on it for patios or decks. The base can be mounted on a wood deck with the enclosed lag bolts, on a concrete patio with enclosed concrete anchors, or mounted to a wall with the enclosed pipe straps. I will add that you may need a masonry drill bit for mounting to concrete. I have some difficulties since my patio is made of pavers and has an uneven retaining wall. What I have decided is to fill a 5 gallon bucket 2/3 full of concrete and then mount the pole to this concrete and then the bucket will be decorated with artificial flowers to hide. I will return with pictures of this when completed. The pole comes with all the hardware for the various mounting options listed above. Each section of the pole is threaded to screw together and the length of each section provides 15” of height for a total height of just under 12.5’, which this was the 10’ model. So you can adjust the height in 15” increments. Seems to be pretty solid when assembled.
