The kit comes with vacuum sealed memory foam. My suggestion is to open and let it expand into a big garbage bag (14 gallon kitchen size?) or better yet, if you have your own large vacuum seal bags (for clothing and such), then let it expand into one of them so you can easily compress it back down if you don't use it all. I let the foam sit for 48 hours. After that, I put the entire pillow case into the bag of foam and basically scooped it all into the pillow case and then zipped it up while still in the large bag. This kept my area clear from having foam go all over the place. For this pillow, I used all the memory foam that was supplied. It barely fit into the pillow case and was waaaaay to hard. I prefer a very soft, pliable pillow. So I ended only using about 1/3 of the total memory foam that was supplied. But that's what's nice about this DIY pillow. You can add & remove the foam to find your goldilocks zone. My recommendation is to start low and add to it as needed.

my new favorite pillow. I’m very picky when it comes to my bedroom pillows and have tried dozens of different pillows. I prefer the cooling pillows, especially if they work as described. I also a firm, memory foam pillow. This pillow hit every mark for me; one thing that really impressed me, you can adjust the firmness of the pillow. It gives you extra foam that you can add if you would like a firmer pillow, or you can remove filling for a softer pillow. Make sure to let the pillow stand for about 12-24 hours before deciding to add the extra foam, if you prefer. I use this pillow every night, and will often place it behind my back if I’m working on my laptop in bed. In my opinion, this pillow has every feature one would need to have the most comfortably night’s sleep. It’s well made and comes with an organic pillow case, as well as a removable, washable cover.

At first I was skeptical because once you let this pillow expand. It gets REALLy fluffy. But once I laid my head on it, I slept through my alarm. My head just sinks right in perfectly, it stayed cool throughout the night and my quality of sleep has improved. I like how it’s adjustable, it comes with extra fluff that you can add or you just simply remove some. It’s made with exceptional quality and care. I highly recommend this pillow to any type of sleeper.

This wasn't cooling at all. I like that you can remove some of the filling and there is a lot of it. It has a chemical/plastic smell and the bag of extra filling isn't resealable so there's no way to store extra filling. The bamboo pillow case is kind of rough. Otherwise it's a nice pillow.overall - just not exactly what was advertised.

The Ashena Adjustable Pillow is one of many similar pillows that allow you to adjust the amount of shredded memory foam fill is in the pillow in order to try and satisfy all types of customers. This is the second such pillow I have tried out and they were both relatively the same. Out of the box you get the pillow, a pillow protector, a bamboo "breathable" pillow case, and a bag of extra fill. Immediately I noted that the bag of extra fill is not reusable. It has a sticky tab, but its cheap plastic that will rip very easily. I'd say that isn't an issue if you are going to use the extra fill immediately, but 99 x's out of 100 you won't as the pillow comes super stuffed. I removed handfuls immediately so that it wasn't so bloated. While extra fill isn't a negative, as presumably the fill will compact over time, you need include a decent bag to put the extra fill in. It is very easy to add or remove fill and both the zippers on the pillow and the pillow case are high quality. The pillow case is supposed to be breathable. I don't really know if its more or less than a non-Bamboo cover, but it could be softer - its somewhat rough and scratchy. I'm not totally convinced that the fill is cooling either. That all being said, this is a $32 pillow that gives you extra stuffing, a pillow case and a pillow cover and claims that it keeps you cool at night - seems like a bargain to me.

This is a really comfortable pillow. It came with a linen pillowcase. It is filled with gel foam pieces and has a zipper on one end which allows you to add or remove filling to make it firmer or softer. It also comes with an additional vacuum packed amount of foam in case you want it firmer than what comes already installed. I ended up removing some after the first night because it was a little firm for me initially. It has a cooling effect which I really like. Be careful not to puncture the vacuum sealed bag which contains the additional foam until you need it and it will remain thin enough to store in as drawer without taking up much space. I think this pillow is of good quality and would purchase another.

I was expecting this pillow to be like every other memory foam pillow with no real discerning differences. Boy was I wrong, this pillow is everything! I don’t know what sorcery they used here but It’s icey cool to the touch, always, like magic. It’s the fluffiest plush amazing feeling. It comes with extra vacuum sealed “memory fluff” to put in if you so desire ( which I did) and the stuff feels like an absolute dream, if I was a millionaire I would have a swimming pool filled with it. This pillow even comes with a cotton pillowcase, but you can also just sleep as is with the beautiful bamboo case, which is removable and machine washable. I know am questioning getting rid of all my expensive bed pillows and replacing them with these. Well worth the price point for an amazing nights sleep
