1st I would like to say this turned out to be a beautiful bed. I will say that hopefully you are good at assembling and figuring out what is what, none of the pieces were marked. Why in this day and age are people still using Styrofoam, I already worked my butt of assembling this, then it takes forever to get all the Styrofoam picked up. I also had to fix pieces that were broken during shipping. So to sum it up, the 3 stars have nothing to do with the final product, it has to do with the assembling and clean up. Pro's Beautiful Storage Cons Assembly was a MF Styrofoam all over the place A lot of broken pieces Update: 11/3/22 - If you like getting wild in the sack, this bed isn't for you. This sucker will wake everyone in the house. I need to find something to put on the boards so it doesn't get so lound when going to pound town!

The bed arrived fast in 4 big, heavy boxes. A large portion of the bed is particle board but I had expected that for the $500 I paid. All the black finishes came without any scratches or dents. An inside wood piece (drawer support) did come completely broken, however, which has been a bit of a pain. I had to contact ACME who sent out a new part, but sent the wrong size. Ended up waiting several weeks before finally getting the correct, unbroken part. Besides the broken part, the bed was fairly straightforward to put together. One of the drawer pulls wasn't long enough for the drawer so my husband had to countersink it, which is annoying. The bed isn't super sturdy but we are hoping when we put in the new part inside the bed (we have been using it without the drawers while we waited the 2 weeks) that it might be more sturdy. All in all, for the money I think we made a good purchase and my son really LOVES the bed!

Edit: After 2 weeks, this bed is LOUD! Lol my 130lbs doesn't make much noise, but when my 200lb husband gets in bed it creaks so bad! Lol I think it's more funny than anything, but my husband is going to add extra support to try and stop it. Besides a little hiccup with shipping, which is understandable, I like everything about this product. None of my pieces were damaged, an any warping was minimal. It creaks a bit right off the bat, but we can fix that. All hardware was present. The drawers don't sit perfectly, but you can't tell. A full wooden bed of this size would cost thousands, I think it's a great value.

So far I love this bed! Its huge and absolutely beautiful. The instructions arent too bad but the actual building can be a pain. A 2mm difference in the side lengths made me have to take the entire thing apart and rebuild it, so I believe indicators of which way each piece fits exactly or at least labels on each piece would help. Otherwise it only took a few hours. I assumed the drawers on either side would be two separate ones but theyre actually one giant one with the illusion of being two, giving a lot of space for storage but not necessarily organization.

The bed is sturdier than I was expecting, which is a plus. I've been searching for a captain's bed for a couple years and this was by far the best price I could find with it still being a quality bed. I happened to see this on sale and I'm so happy I did. As some other reviewers mentioned, it is rather high, so do expect that when you order. It does take a good bit of assembling, so be prepared to spend a couple hours or so. The directions were fairly clear, but the only thing that was a bit unclear was that the cross pieces have to be placed at a certain width apart so the length wide boards can be screwed into them.

The bed came yesterday but had several pieces that were broken. I called Acme and they asked for pictures of the broken pieces and where I purchased the item. They said it could take up to a week to receive the new components or they could make me ship the whole thing back and get a refund. So now we have a bigger delay in getting my daughter's bed set up since it took forever to ship (3 weeks after purchase date). Just be aware that broken pieces seem to be common with this and do not expect to have the bed ready same or next day. It does appear to be sturdy and is a nice looking bed. Update -- requested new pieces a week ago and no word from the company. We are having to call and track them down. Dresser came with damage but not quite as bad and were just a few paint chips.

SUCH WASTED POTENTIAL. The how-to-assemble instructions are hard to read, but that's not the worst problem...YOU NEED A DRILL, AND IT NEVER MENTIONS IT. ANYWHERE. IN ANY OF THE LITERATURE. I was so excited to receive this bed, because it looks gorgeous! Then I went to assemble it....and one of the support beams was twisted sideways. Ok, it happens, wood isn't perfect. Then my friend and I discovered that these supportive corner pieces couldn't lay flat as they were supposed to, due to notches in the wood being placed incorrectly prior to packaging. But honestly, the worst part was having to drill holes for 75% of the screws. The ones that needed you to use a screwdriver of your own were completely missing, and there are a LOT of them. They were also in places that are extremely difficult to access; tight corners, etc. Basically, shoddy construction, with a lot left for the consumer to do, and a lot of mistakes that the consumer must accommodate for. The side pieces are also chipboard with a thin wood veneer painted black. It looks gorgeous, but flakes off really easily, so don't let ANYTHING bump into it. The core pieces are sturdy, but again...a LOT of work to actually put together. Took about 4 hours with 3 people, and we're not amateurs to putting furniture together. This is so NOT worth the price. Honestly, if it wasn't so much trouble to return something so big, I might have done so. If this was $200 it probably would have been worth it, but I feel extremely cheated.

I have wanted this bed for yeaaarrrssss!!!! I am so happy I got it for under $1000! I went on YouTube for instructions! 2 guys put it together in under 20 minutes. I did it by myself and it took me a little longer (ahem) but did it! You'll love this bed
