The laptop I got says it was produced July 30, 2018. It was in near new condition. It only has a scratch at the back bottom of the computer. I ran the battery report. The battery is almost like new. As the manual suggests to charge and discharge the new battery three times to prolong the life, I did it just to be on the safe side. However, the battery capacity dropped to 86% after the three charge cycles. I normally use the computer for browsing Internet and MS Office suites. I do not play games. Nor do I edit photos or videos. I would like a computer with no fan noise and can last for a day with light use. I have around 200 GB music and would like to keep that in the computer. So I will need to install a new SSD in the computer. Below are what I did. - I bought a 500GB WD Blue SSD to expand the storage - Log into the new computer - Let it update - Switch to Windows Home (search Internet for instruction) - Let it update again - Open the back with T6 Torx screw driver - Install the SSD. No screw to secure the drive. I took a screw from another laptop to secure the drive. - Turn on the computer and initiate the new drive. - Ran Macrium to clone the disk. Be sure to expand the SSD drive size if you want to keep all SSD storage in one drive. - BIOS will automatically boot from the new drive. After all is OK, reformat the eMMC drive. This will avoid software to install on the eMMC drive for some odd reasons. I ran CPU userbenchmark. It gets 39.3% performance. This is better than 33% for my 3 years old Lenovo with i5-7200U CPU. However, in daily use, I do not think it is faster than the Lenovo. Maybe because the poor performance 4GB memory slows things down? However, I did not find any sluggishness either with normal usage. Battery lasts long if you turn down the brightness. Some Internet site burns more power. I did not test the battery fully. The screen is OK. It is bright enough. However, the color is not as vivid as I would think. I frankly cannot tell it is much better than my old ASUS laptops at 1366X768 resolution. This is particularly true when playing YouTube videos. The CPU gets hot (70C) when runs at 100% full speed. The SSD gets warm only. No need to add any cooling. The computer is solid with no flex at all. Keyboard is OK. ... show more

    • Excellent buy, with one caveat!

This is a very nice quality feeling laptop, especially for the price. I paid $529. This laptop is a steal at that price, with one pretty large caveat. I had to repaste the cpu and GPU. This may only be an issue with the unit that I received and not true across all of them. Out of the box I was getting high temps while gaming of 98°c on the cpu. After the repaste I get temps while gaming of about 74°c on the cpu. Aside from this one issue, which was for me easily resolved, this is an excellent computer for the price. The screen is nice, clear, sharp, has good viewing angles, and gets decently bright. The colors are nice, but even after adjustment seem to be lacking any pop. The keyboard is very nice, although may be a little soft and not clicky enough for some. I have grown to love it. The mouse pad seems to be a complaint for some reviewers of this computer, but I found it to be adequate enough for the amount of time that I used it. Full disclosure though, I have never been a fan of any trackpads and I use a wireless mouse. Build quality is good and I feel like this laptop will outlast its technology life cycle. Bear in mind that I tend to take really good care of my electronics and most of them outlast their life cycle for me. Sound quality is decent, but I'm most impressed with how loud the speakers get. They blow my old laptop out of the water. This computer has handled every game that I've thrown at it thus far and they have all run smoothly at very high custom settings. I haven't tried any newer triple a titles on it yet, but that's what I have a gaming desktop beast for! Overall, I purchased this laptop to do schoolwork on with the added bonus that I could play some of my massive steam library on it occasionally when I'm away from my desktop. To that end I don't think I could have found a better product for the same price. I would highly recommend this product, just be prepared that you may have to apply new thermal paste.
