  • Solid machine for a college student.
Daughter in college loves it and she was praised by some of the gamers for having a sweet laptop. Good performance and she loves the touchscreen too.

  • This Acer Aspire Is Making My Acer Predator Feel Like a Tank!
Acer Aspire Go 16 AI Ready Laptop... I couldn't wait to get this thing out of the box! Actually, getting it out of the box was probably the hardest part. This thing was packed well enough that no matter how gently I tried to open it, one of those cardboard flaps was basically telling me to BACK OFF! I tore it a little, but eventually I won the battle and was ready to get busy. My first impression was how light this is compared to my Acer Predator. The Aspire Go 16 weighs only about 3.7 pounds, and the difference is very noticeable when you pick them up side by side. Even the power supply is considerably smaller and lighter than the Predator's. I recently bought a new Acer carrying bag, and this one fits into it nicely. My Predator is simply too bulky for that bag, so portability is already a big win for me. I chose this laptop for a couple of specific reasons. One is the 16-inch touchscreen, and the other is the upgrade potential. This model comes with 16GB of DDR5 memory and a 512GB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD, and Acer lists support for up to 32GB of memory. The M.2 SSD is also replaceable, which was important to me because I want the option of increasing the storage later. The connectivity is another thing I really like. I have two USB-C ports, two USB-A USB 3.2 ports, HDMI 2.1 and the headphone connection. The USB-C ports support data, DisplayPort and charging, which gives me plenty of flexibility when I'm connecting things. Having two USB-C ports on a laptop in this price range is a nice bonus. The screen is one of the first things that impressed me. The 16-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS touchscreen is bright, sharp and very clear, and the touchscreen has been extremely responsive. I wasn't sure how often I would actually use the touchscreen, but I've already found myself reaching up and using it more than I expected. Performance has also been impressive so far. This has an Intel Core 7 150U processor, 16GB of DDR5 and a PCIe Gen 4 SSD, and everything has felt very responsive while I've been setting it up and installing the programs I need. I'm using this as a backup computer for my DJ gigs, so quick response and dependable performance are much more important to me than having a gaming laptop. I've also been taking my time fine-tuning Windows and getting rid of the bloatware and other things I don't need. Once I got everything cleaned up and configured the way I wanted it, the laptop felt noticeably better. There was also some Windows/OneDrive housekeeping involved during the initial setup, so if you're restoring a lot of information from another computer, I'd recommend paying attention to what Windows Backup and OneDrive are doing instead of blindly restoring everything. Battery life has been interesting. My first real test lasted almost two hours. The second test made it to about 2 hours and 45 minutes, and after I finished the initial setup and fine-tuning, I'm now getting around 3.5 hours with lighter usage. I should point out something I learned while doing this testing: you don't need to repeatedly run a modern lithium-ion battery completely dead to "condition" it. I initially followed the old advice about fully discharging it several times, but that's not something I would recommend as a normal battery routine. My battery life improved as the laptop finished updates, indexing and background setup, so I'm going to continue monitoring real-world battery performance rather than trying to train the battery with full discharges. The keyboard is probably going to take me the longest to get used to. I've been using my other Acer for about five years, so my fingers already know where everything is without my brain getting involved. This new layout has thrown me a few times. But the backlit feature is something I definitely can't be without! You can change it to stay on all the time if you need to. The top row is different, there are new Acer Sense key and one that opens Windows Outlook, Teams and Edge (all 3) keys, and some of the function-key behavior has changed. The number pad has also moved things around enough that I'm constantly looking for the 0 key. After five years on my other keyboard, muscle memory is not something you can simply uninstall! The touchpad is HUGE. It takes up a substantial amount of the lower center of the laptop, although I rarely use a touchpad because I prefer a mouse. For someone who does use the touchpad regularly, though, there is certainly plenty of room. The one real issue I had during the initial setup was Bluetooth. It had trouble finding one of my speakers, and it took me a couple of days to get that sorted out. Once I got it working, I haven't had a problem, but since I'm planning to use this for DJ work, Bluetooth connectivity is something I pay attention to. I wanted a capable, reasonably priced, touchscreen laptop that is much easier to carry than my Predator, has upgradeable components, has enough performance for my DJ backup needs and doesn't feel like I'm carrying another piece of DJ equipment when I take it with me. So far, this Aspire Go 16 is checking those boxes. The combination of the large touchscreen, 16GB of RAM, fast PCIe Gen 4 SSD, upgrade potential, much lighter weight and surprisingly good overall responsiveness has made a very good first impression. The keyboard is going to take some getting used to, and the initial Bluetooth issue was frustrating, but neither has been enough to change my overall opinion. I'm very happy with this laptop so far, and I think it is going to make a very good backup for my Predator at DJ gigs. For me, this is a 4.5-star laptop so far. I'm holding back that last half-star mainly because I want more time with the battery and Bluetooth before I call it perfect. But as a budget-friendly, upgradeable 16-inch touchscreen laptop, this one has impressed me considerably more than I expected. ... show more

  • Nice design and good value with included spec out
Overall, pretty happy with all the features with this laptop. It’s got a nice design and it’s made out of all plastic. The touchscreen works really With its included 16 inch 19 20 x 1200 IPS display. You get 16 gigs DDR 5 and a 512 GEN four SSD. Wi-Fi six works well. There’s a dedicated copilot button which makes it easily accessible with the touch of the button to bring up your AI assistant. It charges with a USB-C port and has HDMI 2.1. It comes with Acer Acer sense which manages battery life storage and apps for getting optimal performance. The speakers are OK they’re down firing speakers which is annoying though it could be better well positioned in a different spot, but that’s a nitpick. The keyboard does have some flex to it, but a lot of them in this price range due when they’re made out of plastic. Overall, it’s a pretty good value though for what you get and I’ve had no issues with speed or slow down with the specs in this laptop for what I do for daily use. also included as the WebCam that has a shutter that can be closed with just a physical action of sliding the button on the top of the frame of the screen, That’s a really nice touch. The screens clarity and color. Vibrant is really nice. Really good viewing angles as well. ... show more

  • Great budget laptop that doesn't skimp on the specs
This is a great budget laptop that does not feel like any large compromises were made to reach the price point. The 16 inch display is large and the 16:10 aspect ratio 1920x1200 display is far superior to the standard 16:9 1920x1080 aspect ratio, allowing for a surprisingly large upgrade in vertical space which is great for viewing web pages and documents. The Intel Core 7 150u processor is not the most powerful out there but it has great single threaded performance which results in snappy performance for regular everyday use in a web browser. However, I would not recommend this laptop to run heavier applications such as Adobe Lightroom as I found it quite sluggish when trying to do some light editing on some RAW files. The display on this laptop is surprisingly good with moderately thin bezels and a responsive touch screen. I also appreciate that there is a pretty decent selection of 2x USB C ports and 2x USB A ports as well as an HDMI port. I also appreciate the addition of a numpad as it seems that many larger 16 inch laptops these days forego this feature despite having more than enough space. Overall, this is not the most exciting laptop out there but it gets the job done at an affordable price point especially with the current shortages in memory and storage and there are no glaring flaws with the laptop at all. ... show more

  • Great Laptop With a Large Display
I really like this laptop and have been very impressed with it so far. The 16 inch display is one of my favorite things about it. It is large enough that everything is easy to see without feeling like I need to constantly zoom in, and the touchscreen is a nice added feature. I also really like the full size keyboard. Having the number pad on the side is especially convenient for anyone who does a lot of typing or working with numbers. The keyboard is comfortable to use and I love that it is backlit, which makes it much easier to see the keys when I am using it in lower lighting. The laptop feels solid and well made without being overly bulky. It has been running smoothly for me, and I have been able to play a lot of my PC games on it just fine. For everyday use, streaming, browsing, work, and gaming, it has been performing really well. My one complaint is that I wish the charging port was available on both sides of the laptop. Having it on only one side can be a little inconvenient depending on where I am sitting or where the outlet is. Overall, I think this is a really nice laptop with a great sized screen, comfortable full keyboard, plenty of storage and memory, and solid performance. I am really happy with it and especially love the large display and backlit number pad keyboard. ... show more

  • Acer Aspire Go 16 AI Ready Laptop
This laptop has been a solid everyday workhorse for me. The screen is what really stood out, it's bright and crisp at 1920 x 1200, and the touch display actually comes in handy more than I thought it would, especially when I'm scrolling through documents or zooming in on stuff. The Intel Core 7 processor handles everything I throw at it without breaking a sweat, whether I've got a bunch of tabs open, Spotify playing, and a few Word docs running at the same time . The 16GB of DDR5 RAM definitely helps with that smooth multitasking feel, and the 512GB SSD means it boots up quick and files load fast . Plus, the 16-inch size is great for actually seeing what I'm working on without feeling cramped. Wi-Fi 6 keeps the connection stable, and battery life has been decent enough for a full workday . If you're looking for something that can handle daily work, streaming, and general use without any fuss, this one does the job well. ... show more
