    • Update 07/22/28 - AC Delco Parts Made Me Believe Again
UPDATE - 07/22/18 - I removed the brakes the other day at 209,000 miles to work on my suspension. I now have 26,000 miles on these brake pads and ACDelco rotors, and the brakes do not look like they have been used very much. I seriously estimate that I might get 75,000+ miles out of this brake job. That is unheard of in the time I've owned this truck. No more aftermarket pads and rotors for me! I had to come write this review because I am so pleased with my AC Delco brake job. I will post this same comment to the AC Delco rotors that I used. I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD with 193,00 miles that I have been through several brake jobs on in the last 70,000 miles. I used to get my parts from the popular auto stores and couldn't get the brakes to last more than 30,000 miles. The pads would wear down really quick, and the rotors would always be below turning specs. 30,000 miles!!! I didn't even bother with lame warranty they offered. Well, I finally gave up on the cheap aftermarket junk and at 183,000 miles, I put on AC Delco Advantage rotors and the ceramic pads. I had been out on Amazon recently buying the AC Delco parts really cheap and had been happy with everything. 2 of my rotors were Warehouse deals and were perfect condition. Anyway, I did the brakes all around and I feel like I finally got back truck back to normal. After about a 1,000 miles, the truck stopped like it was brand new. Just today, after 10,770 miles on these brakes, I was replacing the front hub bearings. When I got to the brakes and rotors, they looked practically new. I seriously mean that they showed virtually no wear on both sides of rotor, on both left and right sides of truck. I was totally shocked. I will be definitely keep putting the genuine AC Delco stuff on the truck as I have been very happy with all their parts so far. ... show more

    • If you drive a GM ... only use ACDelco pads .... lesson learned !
I chose these after making the mistake of trying a set of aftermarket ceramic pads that didn't have the stopping power needed for my Avalanche. The original OEM pads still had 6MM of life on them & as you all know the OEM ACDelco pads are expensive. The aftermarket pads were highly recommended by a sports car club & were on sale so I tried a set, not a good experience, they wouldn't even activate the anti-lock system no matter what, even on a gravel road. They came off at only 200 miles after hearing how much better they would get after some miles were put on them .... not ! Yes, a few of the sports car guys were running the recommended pads on their pick-up's ... all I can say is that they must not know what a good set of brakes feels like. I decided to try the Advantage series & am glad i did, the difference is night & day, the heavy Avalanche is a Southern Comfort version with 20" wheels & now feels normal again, just touch the brake pedal & the overall smoothness of the braking power becomes obvious. I was scared to pull my bass boat with the aftermarket pads installed ... not anymore ! Only time will tell on the mileage lifespan of the Advantage series pads but I can assure you that they feel exactly like the OEM's so give them a try. ... show more

Great price on OEM quality pads. I didn’t need to file or adjust anything to install which is always nice. Fit perfectly on my 05 Escalade. When I replace my brakes up north; I try to change more than just the brakes as I get older. Replace the boots and grease the glide pins and replace any corroded glide pins. Don’t turn the drums; buy replacements and buy quality parts so you don’t have to revisit in less than year. Check pad fitment and file edges to make sure they slide in the bracket. Just some advice that could save you from years of brake repair grief down the road. ... show more
