Find GM Original Equipment and aftermarket parts within the full roster of premium parts from GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco. GM Genuine Parts & ACDelco Original Equipment are true OE parts for GM vehicles. ACDelco Gold parts are high-quality OE alternatives for GM vehicles and more. ACDelco Silver Parts are high-value options for GM vehicles and many others. Don’t know your shoes from your rotors? Here’s a quick look at the primary components of your vehicle’s braking systems. They are part of a disc brake system and press against the brake rotors to slow or stop a vehicle. When the brake pedal is pushed, brake pads press against the rotors to slow or stop the vehicle. When the brake pedal is pushed, pistons in the calipers push the brake pads against the rotors. Part of a drum brake system, the shoes press against the drums to slow or stop the vehicle. It converts the driver’s action on the brake pedal into hydraulic pressure that actuates the brakes. Why do brakes need to be replaced in the first place? Friction material on the brake pad contacts the rotors to slow the vehicle. In time, that material wears away and the pads must be replaced. Sometimes the rotors and calipers must also be replaced. What’s the squealing sound I hear when braking? Over time, wear indicators in brake pads may contact the rotors’ surface when braking, resulting in a metallic squealing sound. Vehicles equipped with wear sensors may also provide an alert that minimum brake pad thickness has been reached. What if it’s more of a grinding sound? If all the friction material has been worn away, the metal backing plate of the brake pad will be the material in contact with the rotor during braking. It causes a grinding sound and braking performance is often diminished. Why do the brakes seem to pulsate when stopping? It may be due to worn brake pads, unevenly worn rotors or unevenly worn tires. Have the pulsation diagnosed as soon as possible to avoid the possibility of greater brake system wear or damage. What about vibrations or shaking in the steering wheel? This is more serious than pulsation. If the brakes are very worn or the rotors are unevenly worn, there can be a significant vibration or shaking in the steering wheel when braking. It may mean brake service is needed immediately.

  • Does not add trailer brakes to vehicle
If your vehicle does not have trailer brakes from the factory , ordering this and installing will not simply add them. It requires several other parts including a different master cylinder and a dash harness. Don't make the same mistake I did
