The old one was not easy to remove but the new one was easy to install. The metal posts break free from the plastic over time. I hope I don't ever have to do this again. 2016 Malibu replaced taillight in 2023. This stopped the water from entering the vehicle.

After a long awaited part, I saw this on Amazon and ordered it right away. My old one got a crack in it and was leaking water because the seal around the anchor part and screw came off because of bad glue used in the old OEM. So got this and I am SO RELIEVED AND HAPPY that this OEM brake light fits perfectly! I talked to the dealer around and they asked for over $500 for part and labor for a 15 minute job. Because apparently they have to do a “difficult” job fixing this tail light. Nevertheless, all you need is “car interior trim removal tools” and 5/16 socket wrench for the bolts and voila you have a great, working, non leaking high mount 3rd brake light. With the massive warranty replacement of these lights it would seem GM would include the new gaskets and nuts these lights are supposed to use. The service bulletin says do not use the gaskets that come with the light and it doesn't come with any nuts. So order the correct nut and gasket with it.
