  • Marvelous dock with dual bay! Storage galore!
This compact dock for a M4 Mac mini has a compartment for two NVMe SSDs— that sets it apart from the other docks, especially if you need more storage, or if you would like to set up a convenient RAID 0 or RAID 1 or JBOD. I previously had a Satechi dock, which was fine, but the ACASIS dock’s ability to expand storage and add RAID was too attractive. Plus, it’s small, sturdy, and handsome enough, and it has plenty of ports. ... show more

  • Best Mac Mini Dock
SSD enclosure gets far too hot when transferring large files. Even with pro SSDs w/ heat shields. If you’re going to move your home folder / operating folders to the SSD then consider another enclosure with better cooling. I bought the dual slot. It comes very well packaged. Mac mini fits very nicely inside. All functions work. Set up is just like the photo and comes with the short thunderbolt cable to connect. Wi-Fi signal is degraded while in the case but there’s a Ethernet port accessible. Solid aluminum construction, only gripe on appearances is the large ACASIS branding across an entire side, which goes against the Apple aesthetic. Power button functionality is a great change. Mac itself had no heat issues. ... show more

  • The Ultimate All-in-One Upgrade for My Mac Mini M4 Setup
5.0 out of 5 stars - The Ultimate All-in-One Upgrade for My Mac Mini M4 Setup I've been using the ACASIS 40Gbps Mac mini M4 Dock with Dual-Bay NVMe SSD Enclosure for about a month now, and it's transformed my compact Mac Mini M4 Pro into a full-fledged creative workstation without any cable clutter or compromises. As someone who does video editing, photo work, and light 3D rendering, this dock has been a game-changer—delivering the speed, storage, and connectivity I need in one sleek aluminum package. Right out of the box, setup was a breeze. The included 40Gbps Thunderbolt cable connects seamlessly to the back of my Mac Mini, and the dock acts as both a stand and enclosure, elevating my setup while securely housing the Mini. I popped in two 4TB NVMe SSDs (B+M M-Key, up to 8TB each supported) with the provided thermal pads and screws—no tools beyond the included screwdriver needed. Configuring RAID 0 via macOS Disk Utility gave me blazing-fast combined speeds hitting around 2,800 MB/s read/write, perfect for scrubbing through 4K timelines in Final Cut Pro. Transferring a 50GB project folder took under a minute, and the SSD status LEDs keep me informed at a glance. The ports are thoughtfully laid out and cover everything: three USB-A 10Gbps slots handle my external HDD, keyboard, and MIDI controller without a hitch (each delivering up to 4.5W, enough for low-power peripherals), while the dual SD/TF 4.0 readers make importing from my camera cards lightning-quick. For displays, the two DP 1.4 ports shine—I'm running one at 4K@144Hz for my main monitor and another at 4K@60Hz for a secondary screen, combined with the Mini's HDMI for a triple-display setup that's buttery smooth for multitasking. No lag, no flickering, even during intensive renders. Thermal management is impressive too. The aluminum body with side vents and dual silent fans (humming at about 52dB, barely noticeable) keeps everything under 60°C after hours of heavy use. The 30W PD adapter provides stable power, preventing any dropouts, and the front power button is a nice touch for quick on/off without digging behind the desk. It even minimizes WiFi interference thanks to the internal shielding—my signal strength hasn't dipped at all. The only minor quirk I noticed is that after a Mac reboot, the SSDs occasionally need a quick power cycle on the dock to remount, but it's rare and resolved in seconds. Overall, for the price, this is an unbeatable value compared to pricier options from OWC or Satechi—robust build, future-proof Thunderbolt 5/USB4 compatibility, and genuine 40Gbps bandwidth that doesn't starve your ports. If you're tired of dongle hell and want expandable storage on the cheap, grab this. Highly recommended for any M4 or M4 Pro owner! ... show more

  • EXTERNAL DRIVES DO NOT REMAIN CONNECTED.
I needed an external NVVME M.2 enclosure for my M4 Mac mini and based on the form factor and a couple of good reviews, I purchased The ACASIS dual bay unit. This unit has some serious design flaws. Most importantly, it Needs to be powered on and during a computer restart, or initial boot, the unit will stay powered on but the NVME drives are unmounted, disconnected. Then the ACASIS unit then needs to be restarted, after the initial boot or restart to remount the drives. This is a major problem for those who want to run an OS on an external drive. All of my other Thunderbolt (USB4) external drives stay mounted during restart and boot until I unmount and remove the drives. I am more than disappointed, I waited to long to return it. I had to buy a new Thunderbolt (USB4) external enclosure from a different manufacturer for my drives. The new unit I purchased from another manufacturer works perfectly, as advertised, powers on and off with my Mac and drives remain mounted. I would highly recumbent NOT BUYING THE ACASIS. There are a number of other USB4 units that will function properly. Don't buy this unit if you intend to run an OS, or need a 40GB external drive that will remain connected and run the home folder, apps etc. The drives in this unit WILL NOT REMAIN CONNECTED. This unit is really just an Expensive USB hub. ... show more

  • The best case for a Mac mini
You can’t have a Mac mini without a good case especially one with two SSD hard drives in them

  • NVMe causes stability issues
The good.....the chasis is SOLID! The added connectivity is perfect for the new mini. HUGE flaw I found is that I cannot use a NVMe drive AND use a display port monitor at the same time without the DP cutting out every few minutes...I have to re-boot the hub side to get it back working. It's almost as if the power cannot keep up. Once I removed the NVMe, the display issues were resolved. I moved my NVMe to my NAS instead. *Update even after removing the NVMe, the unit continues to lose connection with the mac mini. I am having to consistently reboot the device. ... show more

  • Best Mac mini hub with extra ports.
Excellent build using aluminum, padded nicely inside. First thing after 24 hours running is this does not get hot. I have two Samsung 990 + EVO each two TB installed. The push-pin rubber securing the SSD is a great touch. The extra thick SSD thermal tape is easy to apply and keeps contact with aluminum door hatch. Another nice touch is they include a screwdriver but it is not magnetized so be careful. Also included is a power plug and USB C type cable but I find it is not needed. Read write speeds very acceptable. I agree with most comments that the blue LED light showing the hub is powered on is too bright so I set my hub facing away from my eyes. Rubberized feet keep it in place. This is a keeper. ... show more
