Features

  • Premium Quality: Our security chains are made of hardened steel with a special anti-corrosion coating which makes them ideal for outdoor use. Each link has a thickness of 5/16", inside height of 1 3/8" and inside width of 1/2".This chain requires 6 tons of cutting force to break through the hardened steel.
  • Theft Deterrence: Our chain cannot be compromised by typical aggressive burglary attacks. Each individual link is unique in that the shape is squared rather than round. The squared link construction makes it almost impossible for theft tools to get a secure grip on the chain to cut. The thick hardened steel is extra resistant to sawing and the welded finish makes prying insurmountable.
  • Secure Anything: ABUS square link security chains are utilized by both industrial and consumer users. Our customers trust this chain to secure their commercial/residential properties, containers, bikes, gates, fences, trailers, ATVs, motorcycles and much more.
  • Scratch Resistant: Traditional security chains expose your items/property to potential damages and scratches when in use. ABUS security chains feature a nylon sleeve to protect your property from scratches and damages while in use.
  • Synonymous with Security: ABUS has been manufacturing and innovating security technology since 1924. When it comes to protecting lives and valuables, ABUS provides security solutions to help you feel safe and secure.

Description

Our security chains are made of hardened steel with a special anti-corrosion coating which makes them ideal for outdoor use. • Good deterrent
Size: 2' Style: 8KS
I used to use a cable lock on my bike, which would occasionally get new scratches and cut marks on it from people attempting to cut through it. I can’t speak to the durability of this chain. Never tried to cut it. HOWEVER, I can speak to the IMPRESSION of durability, which counts for a lot as a deterrent. There isn’t a single scratch anywhere on it after over a year of use. Nobody has even attempted to get through, because the chain looks indestructible. The chain is just long enough that I can loop it through the frame and front wheel of my bike. The only downside is the bulk and weight of the chain compared to alternative options. ... show more

  • ABUS 14ks Chain
Size: 6' Style: 14KS
The chain is not only heavy but heavy duty. The sleeve helps alot for protection of my bikes. I needed a solid chain that can accommodate my huge padlock. This chain is more then enough. I like how the link goes into the other link then use the padlock on that 1 link to lock and secure whatever you're protecting. Best chain i ever bought. No regrets!! ... show more

  • If you don't want your bike stolen, get this with a high-end padlock.
Size: 2' Style: 12KS
I had my first ever road bike stolen and vowed it will never happen again. Previously, I had used one of the OnGuard U-locks (don't remember the model name/number because I purchased it 11 years ago), and it was nowhere to be found when I realized my bike was stolen. After I bought a new road bike, I did an extensive search of the major heavy-duty locks out there. What did I find? Numerous videos of these so-called super high-security Kryptonite U-locks costing $100+ getting picked in seconds or cut in minutes, not to mention videos of all kinds of cables getting cut like butter. Combination locks are laughable. There are all kinds of marketing gimmicks out there, including thin cables surrounded by a thick layer of rubber/plastic material and anti-theft protection (there is ONE account of a successful claim through the first 4 pages of google search but who knows if that is real; FYI, you need to submit the broken/compromised lock but most thieves take the lock with the bike). After spending days researching different combinations, here is the most secure combination I have found: A heavy duty chain + padlock that cannot be easily picked. Also, a digital U-lock as an added security measure. - Heavy duty chain: There is a video on YouTube that compares different chains. 12KS is the model that was tested in the video. It takes 4-5 minutes in ideal conditions (flat on the ground, allowing a thief to use his/her entire body weight) to cut using a giant bolt cutter. I can't imagine anyone being able to cut this with a bolt cutter if it is several inches off the ground. - Padlock: Again, a quick YouTube search will reveal how easily some of these can be picked. I won't endorse any particular company, but get one that has multiple discs and is not susceptible to hacking with a bump key. The best ones appear to cost $100+. - Digital U-Lock: The concept of keyless, digital locks with thick shackles is promising. There are several different startup companies competing for the next big market. Most of them are shipping their products around September, so we will see how easy/difficult it will be to hack these. PROS: - Very, very tough - Short (makes it more difficult for thieves to maneuver) - The two squares at the ends interlock so that you can use a padlock with a very thick shackle CONS: - Heavy. 4 lbs. - Limited versatility because it is only 2'. Wish they sold a 3' one. OVERALL: Highly recommended, especially for those in SF and NYC. ... show more

  • Heavy duty and works great
Size: 6' Style: 8KS
I bought an expensive ebike as a daily commuter and after researching, Abus seemed to be the brand of choice for a chain. I used a disc lock that we used to have on our storage unit and it fit perfectly with the chain. I like how the chain ends have one chain smaller than the other so it can pass through the last chain when locking, leaving less space and room if someone wanted to try and cut through it. ... show more

  • Ultimate heavy duty chain.
Size: 6' Style: 12KS
I now feel confident locking up my Harley with this Abus 1/2 inch security chain. At six feet in length there is plenty of chain to lock the bike and whatever else, like a pole, tree or structure. This thing weighs a ton but it is expected for it is virtually unbreakable.

  • Great heavy duty chain

  • Bear in mind the thickness with the claimed length.
Size: 2' Style: 14KS
This is a really beefy chain and should be more than strong enough for my needs, however it is too short. I measured the gate I need to secure and thought a two foot heavy chain was perfect. Unfortunately this chain is so thick that the thickness of the links eats into the circumference of the loop so much that the chain will not actually fit around the gate and upright as intended. I need an additional six inches of length for this heavy chain to actually fit around a two foot circumference I intended. I guess I should have considered that before purchase. ... show more
