Love Abu Garcia reels. Tried a lot of different brands over the years and always seem to return to this brand. Unboxing the reel first thing that catches the eye is its color and finish. Not quite sure what or why but it screams no bull all business. The matte finish in military green compliments a lot of rods. Once mounted to rod of your choice you will instantly recognize the quality of form and fit. Casting is effortless, this thing is silky smooth and cast a mile, every time. I don’t think I could make it backlash if I wanted once it’s properly set up. Spool tension and braking systems are a breeze to set up and drag system is like butter it’s so smooth. Smooth. That covers a lot of categories. This reel feels great in hand. The low profile allows you to palm this reel so easy. I have my index finger under the line all the time and this is one reel I never struggle do that to do that. It cast like butter. I mean with a 1/2oz lipless I can hero cast it 35-40 yards with ease. My settings are the spool tension about 3 clicks from the spool to be able to move side to side and the brakes 2-3 clicks from max. Reel speed, this is a sweet spot for an all around reel. Picks up line fast enough to yank Bettys out of grass, burn a crank bait, or slow roll a chatter bait. Smooth, no gear noise at all. Feels solid under a load. The drag is smooth. Color. This is my Boba Fett reel. The matte green is killer. The accents of red are dope. I swapped my Abu Garcia/Winn Grips handle from my Revo SX4 to this reel and they both look better. Would look amazing with a carbon handle like the Zata spin cast. ... show more

Abu garcia does not disappoint. The brakes are SO nice. Every adjustable piece of the reel makes a definitive click sound so you can gauge exactly how loose or tight your brakes are. The overall frame is solid like a rock. Nothing is going to dent or damage this reel if you take proper care of it. Casts like an absolute dream compared to many baitcasters I have used. The Zata when I finally got my last batch was great. I have 8 and are fantastic but the last two I've ordered had a completely different reel in the box that somebody had returned which were cheap A-- bass pro branded reels. Disappointing yes, but amazon made it right when I sent them back...

I was very shy in moving from baitcasters to low profile baitcasters as I thought I'd lose out on casting distance and control. These things are very easy to tune to your rig, cast well, and the drag can't be beat. I fish freshwater and in the surf with these and they are sturdy. If you're fishing in salt, you will obviously need to do your maintenance. The eva grip handles hold up and don't cake up with fish crud and worm mud. Super smooth reel, after getting a replacement. First one I got didn’t feel smooth. Was possibly a return because these reel boxes have no seal, it’s just a cardboard box. I got the replacement and it is smooth as silk. I feel zero resistance when turning the handle. Apart from returning the first one, I’m happy. If it doesn’t feel perfectly smooth you may have a defective or used one, but I would try for another because this is a great reel ... show more

Very Smooth casting if dialed in on the correct setting. I can cast the reel about 40 yards on a long cast. The breaking system makes short and long casts very easy. Great Product & Fast shipping. Thank You.
