This was on sale so I bought it. I have tried to use a baitcaster before and just got frustrated. This combo seemed on the higher end for half the price plus brand name so I got it. So glad, it was easy to set up and dial in. I put tape on my real so if I do back lash it is only as far as I can cast and not the whole real. This is an excellent rod / reel combo! As a avid fisherman I understand the importance of being able to “feel the fish” without losing the “backbone” for setting the hook or having the confidence to “horse’’em up” through the thickest cabbage. This rod won’t let you down!!

Good grip, light weight, cast a mile, retrieve is tight, handle grips are large making retrieve very controlled, rod is a little stiff but very responsive. Only had for a month but it's an abu so I know it will last.

Almost every 3rd cast it tangles to the point that my spouse starts cussing under her breath again. She’s handled many poles and reels and this one might be the most disappointing. Not only that but it came broken so it’s pretty sharp on the end and it frays the line rather quickly.
