This is my first fishing pole and it is very nice. I took it to ramseys fishing store to get it spooed and it cost me 4$ it was very easy and I have been practicing in my backyard it’s very nice glad I got this combo. Can’t wait to modify it. Been buying so many lures and plastic baits

First off, I am sold on Abu Garcia. I have my Lew’s and love it, but Abu takes my money from now on. The fish in my picture was in heavy weeds on a 5” Senko. Rod was delivered, packaged, and shipped, safely, and pulled the 3.5lber out just fine with all weeds. No breaking, cracking or noises. Enough about the rod, the reel. My Ex-GF (co-parenting) showed up to my fishing spot with the kiddos. She wanted to cast it, never having used a bait caster…. I set the brake, and put it to the test. 20 casts later, not a single back lash. My kids first baitcaster will be an Abu Garcia for this reason alone. The price point to what you get, best value possible. Do it! I needed a new reel for an open rod, found this reel, found out there was a combo available, I still need a new reel for that available rod. It will be one of these or another Abu. ... show more

This was on sale so I bought it. I have tried to use a baitcaster before and just got frustrated. This combo seemed on the higher end for half the price plus brand name so I got it. So glad, it was easy to set up and dial in. I put tape on my real so if I do back lash it is only as far as I can cast and not the whole real. The real has a nice on off button allowing you to have full control of the brake or spool. Caught a 3 plus first day out. ... show more

Was really stoked about getting this combo untill the tip and mid section snapped while tying my lines together wasnt even putting allot of bend on it not like I do to my ugly stiks

Good grip, light weight, cast a mile, retrieve is tight, handle grips are large making retrieve very controlled, rod is a little stiff but very responsive. Only had for a month but it's an abu so I know it will last.
