    • Reliable and versatile
Style: C4-5600 Pattern Name: Solid
Love this reel. Reliable and can take a beating. Numerous trips to the salty spots on the map. If you take care of the real and clean it after you use it in salty environments, it will take care of you when fishing. Good drag and smooth retrieve. I would purchase another. Have used in freshwater burning spinner baits, bouncing the bottom for flounder, jigging gotcha plugs and spoons for blues and spanish, trolling spoons on a kayak in the ocean....it really is versatile for me and have been very happy with it. ... show more

Style: C4-5600 Pattern Name: Solid
Ambassador reels: I own several styles and sizes of this type of reel. I used a 6500 size on an inshore rod while fishing for yellow tail. It worked flawlessly for a number of fishing trips and fish.

    • USER ERROR!!!
Style: C4-5600 Pattern Name: Solid
The reel is fantastic! The guy (ME) spooling the braid line is not so bright. I neglected to properly secure the braid to the spool causing all the line to free spin (Ghost Drag) on the spool which gives the appearance of having no drag. I have learned a valuable lesson!!

    • ABU Garcia Ambassadeur C3 and C4 Reels are Still the Best Value
Style: C4-5600 Pattern Name: Solid
The ABU Ambassadeur C3 and C4 reels still made in Sweden are the best value in classical round bait casting reels available today. They will last for years if properly taken care of and perform well in fresh and salt water. Regrettably, Pure Fishing has elected to put the ABU Garcia name on its line of cheap "S" Series reels made in China bringing down the reputation of the entire line. Hopefully Pure Fishing will be sold to a company that better respects the heritage of the ABU Garcia line. ... show more

To me the Ambassadeur brand has always meant quality. I have been using them for over 40 years. And this reel holds to the reputation. Smooth casting and retrieval. Balances well on all my 7'4" medium/heavy rods for flipping or casting. These reels are also very easy to work on and replace normal wear parts. ... show more

    • The Gold Standard
Style: C4-5600 Pattern Name: Solid
We have used these reels for 40 years. 6500 series on the Kenai River for 60+ pound King Salmon. The 5500 and 5600 series for Silvers and Steelhead. Zero failures. Yes we are still using some reels that are 40 years old. We often use salmon roe as bait and the residue crusts on the reels the reels still work as new. The drags are very smooooth, the anti backlash system works as well as can be expected. We will never buy another brand of level wind reel for Alaska salmon fishing as long as Abu-Garcia makes these. ... show more
