  • Hernia Belts Should Be Used With CARE!!!
Size: L/XL
Unfortunately, I have had an umbilical hernia for over 3 years now. I am not in a place to get it operated on, currently. So if it were not for belts like this one, I wouldn't be able to live with a hernia this long. But, a word of CAUTION. These hernia belts are ONLY for those individuals whose hernias are "reducible", which means that the hernia bulge is capable of receding inside the body completely, when laying down flat, such as on a bed. I know all this from my own personal experience and 3 years of educating myself on hernias. I went from basically knowing nothing, to having to learn about it, just to be able to cope, and deal with it. If a person were to use a hernia belt on a "non-reducible" hernia, they would cause irreparable harm to their intestines. So that brings me to this belt, and the very Best way to put it on, is to lay flat on your bed, atop of the belt. You need to first lay the belt across your bed, and after that, lay down. This allows the hernia to recede and retreat inside the body first, Before being compressed and held into place, via this belt. Also, I Do really recommend Always measuring first, prior to ordering, as measurements can and do change over time. I have another belt by this exact same company, which I wear daily. However that belt is a Size Small/Medium, but I needed a Size Large/Extra Large for this particular belt. So always consult the size chart. I did take several measurements of this belt, because those measurements can be very helpful, when trying to figure out what size you should order. First, the entire belt has a length of 45.25". That is unstretched. It has a 14" long Velcro area, to which you attach you attach a 4" wide Velcro pad located on the opposite side, in order to close it. What all this means is that when the Velcro is closed like it is supposed to be, the Size Large/Extra Large has a waist circumference range of fitting a waist anywhere between 31" through 41.5", despite what the size chart says. Of course, this belt will stretch, give or take, no more than a couple inches. So realistically, it could fit up to a 43.5" waist , but even that is pushing it. I was surprised at just how little stretch this belt had, and I have tried dozens of them. So definitely do not count on it being able to fit, solely because of its stretchiness. Speaking of which, this is what this belt is made from: 40% nylon, 35% elastic, 15% polyester and finally 10% sponge. In all likelihood, I will not be using the included extra strap, which I believe is primarily for people recovering from hernia surgery. It is supposed to give the extra added and necessary support during the critical recovery period. The strap itself is 34.5" long, and at its widest part, 5.75" wide. As for the 2 included compression pads, I will Not be using those either. I have tried hernia belts, with and without those types of pads before, and I don't like wearing them one bit. The firmer EVA foam pad is positively unbearable to wear. It feels just like having a big rock strapped to your stomach, that is pressing into your guts the whole time. And the memory foam compression pad is not much better. It also gets to the point that I have to remove it, because of it putting the constant continual pressure on my insides. After awhile, it starts to make me feel ill. In addition, even though hand washing is their preferable method for washing this belt, I always machine wash my belts without any problems. Just be sure to first securely close the Velcro area on the belt, if it is going to washed with other laundry. Then, use cold water, and the delicate or gentle cycle. After that, allow to air dry thoroughly. And positively Never tumble dry it. In conclusion, this Abdomencare Umbilical Hernia Belt is very easy to use. They even provide a 16-Page instructional/ user manual/ booklet complete with illustrations, written in 3 different languages. This belt also has Extremely good adhesion (stickiness) in the Velcro area for a really secure, reliable hold. I highly recommend this premium, high quality hernia belt. ... show more

  • Solid Customizable Support!
Size: XXL
As someone who was recently diagnosed with an umbilical hernia—and later discovered that I actually have two small hernias—I have become more cautious about how I handle lifting, bending, and other everyday physical activities. While I have made a point of cutting back significantly on lifting heavy objects, it is simply not realistic to eliminate all strain on the abdominal area in normal day-to-day life. Because of this, I decided to try a hernia support belt to add a layer of protection and stability when I am more active. After spending some time using the ABDOMENCARE Umbilical Hernia Belt, I can say that it appears to be a thoughtfully designed and well-constructed support device that performs its intended function quite well. As an Amazon Vine reviewer, I try to evaluate products not only from the standpoint of initial impressions, but also in terms of practicality, build quality, and whether the design reflects real-world use. In this case, the first thing that stood out to me was the width of the belt. Some hernia belts are fairly narrow, but this one provides broader coverage across the abdominal area. That additional width helps distribute pressure more evenly across the midsection rather than concentrating it in a small band. In my experience, this wider design also provides a modest degree of lower back support, which can be a welcome bonus during activities that involve standing, walking, or light lifting. The elastic material feels firm and supportive without being overly stiff. While I cannot speak as a textile expert, the construction gives the impression of durability and quality. The elasticity feels strong rather than flimsy, and the belt maintains its supportive tension once it is secured. The overall build suggests that it should hold up well with reasonable care and proper handling. One feature that I particularly appreciate are the removable padded compression pads, of which there are two. The pads are roughly the size of a hockey puck and are designed to be positioned directly over the hernia site. This allows for targeted compression exactly where it is needed. For anyone dealing with an umbilical hernia, gentle but firm pressure in that area can help reduce the tendency for the hernia to bulge outward during movement or mild exertion. Because the pad can be repositioned or removed entirely, it allows the user to customize the support depending on the location and sensitivity of the hernia. In my case, having two small hernias made that adjustability especially useful. The belt fastens with a wide hook-and-loop closure that allows for a good degree of adjustment. This makes it easy to tailor the tightness to your comfort level. A slightly tighter fit provides greater stabilization when performing activities that may place more stress on the abdominal wall, while a looser fit can be used for more casual wear or shorter periods of support. I appreciate that it is easy to put on and remove without assistance, which makes it practical to use only when needed. Another positive aspect is the belt’s versatility. While its primary purpose is clearly to support the abdominal wall in the area of a hernia, the wide elastic band also offers some secondary core and lower back support. For individuals who perform light household tasks, yard work, or activities that involve bending and lifting lighter items, that extra sense of stability can be quite helpful. In terms of wearability, the belt has a relatively low profile, but it will likely be visible under tight or thin clothing. Wearing it beneath a slightly looser shirt or heavier fabric makes it far less noticeable. During cooler months this is unlikely to be an issue at all, though in very warm weather an elastic support belt may feel somewhat warm if worn for extended periods. The good news is that it is easy to put on before a more demanding activity and remove afterward. For care and maintenance, I would personally avoid machine washing this type of support belt. Hand washing with a mild soap in cool water and allowing it to air dry seems like the most sensible approach for preserving the elasticity and extending the life of the materials. Care instructions are included. With products that rely on elastic tension and hook-and-loop fasteners, gentle care tends to go a long way toward maintaining performance. Overall, the ABDOMENCARE Umbilical Hernia Belt appears to be a solid, well-designed support belt that provides firm abdominal compression, customizable pressure with the included pad, and a comfortable adjustable fit. For individuals who are trying to manage a hernia conservatively, remain active while minimizing strain, or simply want an extra measure of support during certain activities, this belt seems to be a practical and thoughtfully designed option. Based on my experience so far, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a supportive and adjustable hernia belt that offers both targeted compression and general abdominal support. As with any medical-type support product, it is always wise to follow your physician’s guidance regarding use, but as a support aid for day-to-day activities, this one appears to be quite effective. Highly Recommended! ... show more
