This is another example of ignoring some of the bad reviews out there and giving it a try. I use these to hold down my 10' x 10' canopy at my son's baseball games and at the beach (have used them 20+ game days thus far). Each bag will weigh approx. 18-20 lbs when filled and that's more than enough to hold the canopy down in the face of 15-25 mph winds including strong down drafts when thunderstorms are approaching (used more than 20x at Hilton Head, SC and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL in 2022). For baseball games, I fill a gallon size Ziploc bags with sand ($3 for a 50lb bag of sand at HD) and tape it up with duct tape (make sure to shape them accordingly so they fit to weight bags) so I have ready made weights I can insert into the bags at any time and allows me to reuse time after time. It's a PIA to do initially (ie. making the duct taped bags of sand) but it's worth it and has worked great. ... show more

The sand bags do exactly what they are meant to do. Easy to fill with sand. However the Velcro straps are not very long and hard to get around the leg poles of my canopy. When the canopy moves in the wind the Velcro will pop open easily and the bags will fall down. I will add extra Velcro myself to solve this issue. However if you have a thicker pole this may not be the best option. ... show more

I have broken a couple of canopies at the beach over the last few years by burying the legs in the sand. I saw these bags that a friend had used at the beach and bought a set. I used them along with spikes in the sand and it worked like a champ on our recent trip to South Padre Island. The bags are a canvas type material that seems strong and they were easy to fill up. They have a velcro closing mechanism on top to seal in the sand and then velcro straps that attach to the legs of the canopy. We filled up the bags as much as we could and then I strapped the straps around the legs as tight as I could. Afterwards we just poured them out and folded them flat again and stored them in a plastic bag for next time. I would recommend them and they will now be part of our beach trips.
