  • A Well-Made Hammock That Reduces Bugs, & Is a Good Value for the Money
This canopy hanging hammock tent is a great idea, & good for people who like to use hammocks outdoors without as many bugs. The screen does not go underneath the frame, & as campers know, bugs will get into anything that is not completely enclosed. But this item does keep most of the bugs out. It's sturdy, but not unduly heavy. Due to the total weight of the package (about 100 pounds), I opened the box & carried the components to the set-up location. The pieces weighed no more than 10 pounds or so, each, so it was a lot of trips, but with light-weight loads. The directions are clear for the most part, & the pictures are useful (with enlargements) in the 9 step process to put it together. It can be done by a single person, but you'll have to lift & combine some heavy sections, & possibly push the whole unit into place after you finish assembly, so a second person would be helpful. Some of the directions were lacking. For example, the hooks that attache to the chains are located in a separate box from the chains, but they are pictured as being together (assembled) in Reference #10, & simply called "chain". Note that you have to attach the hooks to the chains. Ref #14 ("Protective Sleeve") don't seem to do much (perhaps protecting the chains from scratches?), & are difficult to get on. Instructions & assembly: 4*. The hammock is attractive & as shown: 5* for appearance. Construction: materials are sturdy, well-sewn, all pieces fit, no missing parts zippers work easily with no snags; 5* Value: I can't tell as to longevity/rust potential, etc. (I haven't owned it long enough), but this is well-made & worth the money: 5* I recommend this item to buyers looking to have a well-made hammock that reduces bugs, & is a good value for the money. Update, 4/6/17: I've had this hammock for a year now, & it survived a winter outside in the mountains of PA. (uncovered) with no rust & still in great shape. My only "problem" so far has been pollen getting into the tent & landing on the hammock & it's hard to remove even with a hose & scrub brush, but that's to be expected (I live in a forest with high winds). This season, I'll be moving it into a clearing (less shade, but less debris falling onto it). ... show more

  • Really like product, but 3 things to look out for on assembly.
This was very easy to assemble, with all parts numbered. Tools are not even required as things assemble by pushing in a button that pops through a hole on an adjoining piece, even with somewhat arthritic hands. Instructions are good until you get to #6, then they're rushed. For that section, make sure you attach the chains to the clips BEFORE you attach to the "bed end connectors" and the poles at the head and foot of the hammock/swing bed. If the chains are not attached before you put the clips on, you have to disassemble and reassemble that area again. Construction seems good quality, especially for the price. The bed is of a material that will easily hose off. Many have complained that the mosquito netting is the hardest to put on because there are no instructions for that. They're right! I followed someone's recommendation to unzip the opening, which helped. It was easy to attach the netting velcro to the shade toper from within the swing area. However, No matter how I worked the netting around, there wasn't enough slack for me to effectively rezip the opening without straining the zipper, and it broke on first use. I contacted the seller and provided the requested photo. Jessie from Abba immediately helped me and is sending a replacement for that part of the netting. I am going to try NOT attaching the mosquito netting to the poles with the velcro straps and see if that gives me some slack. Last, someone said that the chains seem different lengths, so if not put on correctly, the head of the bed (where there is a little pillow) could be lower than the foot. It's weird. My chains were the same, yet I ended up doing that exact thing-the head is lower. I'll probably bring my own pillow out anyway, so it won't matter. If it bothers me, I'll reassemble it later. Update 3 days after assembly--I LOVE this product. I feel so lucky that it's that perfect time of year when evenings are cool. It's so relaxing, just gently hovering there, and those pesky bugs--no problem! HA! Thank you Abba Patio for the perfect product to getaway...in my own backyard! Update about 2 weeks--Still LOVE this product--Think this is the first time I've enjoyed my backyard the whole time I've lived here. It is so relaxing and peaceful, especially at dusk when the sun is setting and the solar lights in the backyard start turning on. I was having a problem the first week with crows in the neighborhood targeting the new thing in the yard with their droppings, which went right through the netted sides. I purchased a 9x12 blue tarp which fits perfectly folded over the top during the day. I just looped a couple bungie cords on each end of the metal frame bottom, which easily clips to the tarp's metal circles. I roll it up and secure it when inside I'm inside. Sometimes it provides added shade, depending on where the sun is. If I could give swing 10 stars, I would. Bravo Abba! Summer is approaching and school will be out. I can't wait to try sleeping in it at night. It's so beautiful outside and comfortable to lay in. Thank you again Abba for making such a great product. The netting is a huge bonus! ... show more

  • Missing parts - company won't help
Our hammock is missing one of the tiny pins that holds two poles together (the pin is supposed to be inside the pole). It's a specific size and we called the company to get a replacement, but they say there's nothing they can do. This thing is huge and I can't lug it back to FedEx to ship it back, it won't even fit it my minivan. So I guess I'm just out on all this money... ... show more
