Her vulnerability and quiet regret soften her character, drawing her estranged relatives closer. Elizabeth, Lydia, and Georgiana join Lady Catherine in Eastbourne as she consults a specialist about a dangerous but necessary medical procedure. However, what begins as a journey to provide comfort and companionship quickly turns into a mysterious web of intrigue and danger. Meanwhile, Colonel Fitzwilliam, working undercover for the War Office, is investigating reports of espionage and treason in Eastbourne. To complicate matters, an old enemy appears to be involved with the very spies and traitors Fitzwilliam seeks to expose. When Darcy disappears, Elizabeth and Colonel Fitzwilliam find themselves in grave danger when they stumble upon illicit dealings during their search for him. then help arrives from an unusual quarter. • Truly Wonderful!!
Format: Kindle
This book hit almost all of my 'love this' points. 1) Darcy gets out of his own way fairly swiftly. 2) Darcy really romances Elizabeth. 3) Both Lady Catherine and Mr Collins are respectable and likeable. 4) Lydia becomes a good person. 5) there is an epic adventure. There are other things but you get the idea. This is a great story, and I enjoyed every moment of it. ... show more

  • Excellent story weaving several familiar tales into something new
Format: Kindle
I enjoyed the story very much. Some of the original characters were outstanding and I loved the way some familiar characters like William Collin’s evolved. Emma Woodhouse, my least favorite Austen character, is portrayed to her snarky, condescending perfection as well. I do need to point out one of my pet peeves. Ms. Cartier misuses the correct title for a gentleman knighted by the Crown. The title “Sir” always goes with a man’s first name, never his family name (Sir William, never Sir Lucas when referring to Charlotte’s father) while the courtesy title for a knight’s wife is always associated with the surname, never the first name (Lady Darcy, never Lady Elizabeth). The only time a woman’s title goes with her first name is if she is born to it (Lady Catherine, the daughter of an Earl, used that title instead of Lady de Bourgh, the other title she could have used.) I know this is a small flaw in an otherwise excellent story, but it is generally enough to make me return a book unread since the correct usage can be learned in less than 30 seconds with an Internet search. These errors in this story cropped up in the last few pages, luckily. The way the story of the mysterious and immortal COunt was woven in was very well done, and certainly added a lovely mystery to the drama of the story. ... show more

  • fun, fun, fun!
Format: Kindle
Well done story- the first half seems to be a more typical variation. The second half is exciting and no longer about the personalities & their relationships, but an interesting series of adventures! What an interesting set of characters are introduced. The 2nd half hinges around these characters and their stories.the second half moved at a very brisk pace. My biggest issue with that part of the story is that after a character is unable to move around for a while they are able to jump up and exercise without difficulty. (*No spoilers). ... show more

  • A Regency action story!
Format: Kindle
This is one amazing tale! From the variation from the original to the completely unrelated but wonderfully linked second part depicting a powerful intrigue with surprising events that lead our beloved characters to be rendered heroes and save the day.

  • Umm...
Format: Kindle
I'm at a lost. The story was good, but I just didn't feel like this was really an Elizabeth and Darcy story. It focused more on other characters. This is even evident in the epilogue.

  • grand adventure told not shown
Format: Kindle
The story itself is great fun. I wish the author would write in a showing fashion instead of simply telling everything. It reads like a detailed story outline rather than a novel.

  • Well Done
Format: Kindle
This story started slow and felt like a rehash of other P&P fabric I have read, but as it grew, it became a story that was its own and.was exciting and fun
