  • Works great! Worth the price!
[UPDATE 11/05/2024] When I received the indoor unit, I noticed some odd sheen damage to a large area of the front. It was very not noticeable at most angles, so I went ahead and installed it. Once I had it installed, I noticed that this area was quite a bit more apparent while walking past the unit. It looked like someone tried to clean an area of it with a scotch bright pad. I contacted the seller asking for a replacement of this front cover. Within a few days, I had the replacement. It only took a single message for them to quickly send me a replacement. I cannot say enough about the amazing customer service they provide. This has been a wonderful experience! [ORIGINAL REVIEW] I purchased this item to cool and heat my backyard studio. I did not want to use my window unit anymore due to the noise and air leaks. The window units are never fully sealed in the window. As this small building is being turned into a streaming studio, I did not want the noise of a window air conditioner. The unit itself is the same as any other low-cost unit on the market. In fact, this same unit is sold under many different brands. Many of them costing more. Delivery of the 2 boxes was great except for a delay on the second box that was an issue with FedEx. The seller made this issue right as soon as I made them aware of it. Even offering to send a second unit out if the issue with the first one not being delivered on time was not resolved the next day. It was in fact delivered the very next day. This is not a review on the shipping, but I wanted to mention the level of customer service from this seller. Due to my physical limitations, it took 3 days to install as I have to take constant long breaks. I'm sure an able-bodied person could install this in a single day. I did not like the part that goes through the wall as it just would not work because the way it is designed, it does not fit behind the wall unit. I ordered a flanged kit which solved the issue. I suggest you do the same. I also ordered a cover kit for the lines. It looks so much better this way and protects the insulation on the pipes from sun damage. HEAT MODE: I was totally amazed how hot the air is coming out. It was 44F outside and felt like the air was coming from an electric heater. It's really impressive how well this heat pump works in heat mode. It's also crazy how cold the air coming from the outside unit is in this mode. The only way I could install the outdoor unit was with the fan blowing across in front of the door, and boy is it cold stepping out! It's a small cost to pay to have cheap warm heat inside the building. COOLING MODE: I ran it in cooling mode for about 30 minutes as the instructions say to do. It felt cold but it's not as apparent as the heat was. The temp inside the building was 64F and the air coming out was 50F. I'm not sure how accurate my temp sensor is, but both measurements were from the same sensor. I read you want to aim for 20F differential between the intake and exhaust air. Being only 44F outside, I'm thinking that had something to do with it. I'll update my review during the summer if it has an issue keeping up. SOUND LEVEL: The outside unit is right outside the window. I do not hear it at all from inside. I hear traffic go by, but not this. Even standing outside by it, you only hear the fan, when it's on turbo and a little bit from the compressor. I mean a little bit. It's barely audible. when in normal mode, it's even quieter. The inside unit is almost silent. It's not even in the same league as a window unit because the compressor is right in the window. The only sound the wall unit makes is the fan, but it's very quiet. It has a silent mode, and it sounds like it's off. Seriously I had to get up and put my hand in front of it to see if it was actually still on. Overall, this is a great unit for a very low price and great customer service. I do recommend buying a better designed through wall tube thing, but other than that it's great. I do recommend it. ... show more

  • Acekool 115V unit: Went in well, running well after 4 to 5 months - Apparent Freon overcharge.
I'm suspicious about the SEER but it did go in nicely and runs fine. One caution. It seems to me that these unites become junk if you loose the controller so take good care of it. I used a Lowes plastic gutter to cover the lines and I ran it all the way to the eave - it came out better looking that stopping at the penetration. The wife needs it cooler in the bedroom at night and now I don't have the refrigerate the whole house ! I expect to see savings. I do recommend a rolling eccentric fairing tool and Nylog as leaks are the number one reasons people have trouble with these things. Take your time, Practice on some scrap. And yes you will need a vacuum pump that can be rent/borrowed from an auto parts place. Update 6-19-24: The unit I bought via this listing is not the same one being sold here now. Mine is a 115V 9k btu Acekool and the above and following is about that unit. The Acekool I received installed fine and runs 'fine.' I checked the power pulled and saw that it slowly ramps up to 500w when starting and then backs down in steps to finally sitting at 200W for most of the night. If I up the load on it (cool more area/lower temps) and kick it to turbo it pulls 500w. I have a small (750Watt) inverter generator (Sportsman) and it looks like it would carry this fine in a power outage. (not tested yet) I'm happy enough about all that but.. I have noticed that the outdoor unit is dripping condensate (in cool mode). I found that there is a concerning amount of "sweat back" indicating an over charge situation. There is a respectable accumulator to handle this but, best I can tell, it is over flowing and liquid is getting all the way to the compressor. This indicates a non-desirable over charge situation. This unit says it can be installed with a line set of up to 25ft )(I think that's the number). my install is not much over 8ft so maybe that is involved. Now, many of the pricier minis have digital flow control which meters out only the freon needed by the indoor unit and no more. This unit has only an orifice (bi directional) (cheaper) which can’t alter the flow rate. Over charge leads to poorer cooling, lower efficiency and if bad enough, can cause compressor failure. Adjusting the charge on an inverter system is tricky but I will have to attempt to draw down a little at a time is carefully watch it -maybe over weeks. When I was shopping, I would have liked knowing this information and had the opportunity to see what the additional cost would be for digital flow control as this can compensate for over charge better. I suspect that units with seers over 20 are likely to have active (digital) control valves. Let me close by saying I’m still pleased with the unit. It was well priced for the value. I suggest those with short line length installs should be cautious (as with any of these cheaper units). ... show more

  • Works great as an energy saver over our central HVAC system
Installed this in our master bedroom, so we can save some electricity by not having central AC on all night during the summer. The good: Heats and cools the room quickly. Seems to use very little power for the level of performance it gives. Quiet enough to sleep thru, especially at low fan speeds. Install was pretty much as expected. The bad: In certain modes, the unit makes a slight popping sound. I believe it's the automatic vent direction change. We've learned to set it without that, as it's above our bed and not really needed to control the temperature in the room. During install, the unit was not easy to get flush with the wall mount bracket. We got pretty close, but it's not perfect. ... show more
