This is a pretty awesome camera for teens/children or adults that are hard on their cameras. This was dropped several times by my clumsy teen and it still works, (though she never did drop it directly on the screen so that may still be an issue) I would not say that the pictures are 8k as advertised and I did not see any pixel rating in the description. However the pictures are nice unless you are trying to make them larger than 5x7 then they became distorted (Video quality is not great). The underwater and heavy duty feature is what we were after for a water park and rafting trip so at around $125 it was good enough and produces pictures that were social media acceptable. That said, I wish there was a wifi instant upload feature that so many other cameras have these days because if you have an iphone you have no way of uploading without first going to a laptop and downloading the SD card to icloud first. So even though the newer phones probably take better pics (even under water) who wants to risk losing or breaking a $1k phone?

This is unexpectedly a very compact yet sturdy, handy little waterproof camera!! I bought it for my child who loves taking pictures. He's ecstatic to have his own little gadget to capture underwater wonders in our upcoming cruise! It offers front and back screen display, time lapse recording for space saving, and continuous pics for capturing the right frame/pose. It's not iphone/samsung phone's camera replacement indeed, but it serves the purpose of what I was looking for, "A realtime device without having to worry about screentime"!!

Bought this one for my daughter who’s always out an about vlogging. She absolutely loves it. Picture quality is great. Size is perfect for in the go. It really is water proof. She was in the pool taking pictures under water. She loves it.
