At first my Pi just said "no gamepad detected" no matter what I tried. The single sheet of "instructions" mentions only Switch and Windows. However at the suggestion of another customer, I tried the 8BitDo website where I found the solution in the FAQ for this product. The key is to have RetropPie and Emulation Station running, then HOLD the "B" button on the controller while plugging it in. Then go into "Configure Inputs" and the Pi will see the controller. Once that is done this controller works very well with the Pi. Input lag is extremely minimal and the controller seems to be of good quality, although only time will reveal if it truly is. In the event it fails rapidly, I will update this review.

Got this when the PS3 controller I had been using on my PC finally wore out. This is a great replacement. Grip and feel are similar to a PS4 controller. The rumble feedback is solid. It doesn't have pressure-sensitive face buttons like my PS3 controller had but nothing on PC supports that anyway. The customizable buttons on the back of the grips are a nice bonus. Really nothing to knock on this thing. Really great controller for the price. EDIT: I have noticed one thing that could be improved. The cable is very, very long, and is permanently integrated into the controller. Would have been nice if the cable connected to the controller via USB so we could use a shorter or longer cable if desired. Not going to knock a star off for this, though, given the overall value of the controller.

Over all the controller is fantastic, it comfortable to hold and handle, everything is very responsive and the buttons feel great, just like the original SNES controller, if not a little better. Me only nitpick is that the controller doesn't work with the Steam-Link, I know the steam link is discontinued so updating this controller to work with it might not happen, however was surprised that the Steam-Link didn't recognize the controller, and looking into it, for whatever reason the controller was automatically set to Switch mode instead of XBox mode unlike most 3rd party controllers. So I'm hoping in the future there is an update or something for it to always be set to Xbox mode or something. Anyway other than that, the controller is amazing for anything else, would recommend. [Update] I don't know why but this controller won't work with the Switch... I updated it and everything and no matter what I can't get it to work with the Switch, only works with me PC... I kinda regret getting this controller now, maybe the one I got was defective? Who knows at this point, buy at your own risk I guess

This thing has no business being this good for this low of a price. Not complaining, just saying it’s an astounding value. I game on controllers for many hours at a time, and I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on every kind of controller from Atari to PS5. I’ve even had custom controllers built and tuned for me by people who sell to speedrunners that need precision above all else. With that said, I game on this thing more than any other controller I have. It is hands down my best general purpose controller. The dpad works great, the triggers are responsive, the sticks are smooth and reliable, all the other buttons press smoothly and consistently. The programmable extra buttons on the back and turbo features are just nice additions that take it over the top. I like everything about it. It just works, and works well. It feels like it’s built to last, too. I have absolutely paid a lot more for a lot less.

The controller itself is nicely designed and I love the lack of latency when plugged into the steam deck dock. However, no matter which button I hold while plugging it in, not all the buttons work. The home button works for about five minutes before disconnecting itself. You can't easily go back to steam's home screen using it once it shuts itself off. Also, L2 AND R2 doesn't do anything so it's really only good when I am enjoying snes and below emulation. It also invalidates emudeck shortcuts unless you go through the trouble of changing the speed up and other ones that rely on those two buttons. I decided to keep it because it is nice playing older systems using it, but it hurts that those buttons aren't properly working.

Love the controller for my switch, purchased for my pc to replace my old wired 360 controller, did not work with most of the games I played, such a disappointing experience as the controller is awesome . I previously purchased non-8bitdo controllers to use on an emulation raspberry pie console but the response time was terrible. Just not quick enough to have my character do that double jump like I wanted or to react to a boss shooting something in my direction. It was frustrating. I bought these and they work like a charm, feels like the classic controllers with great response from the buttons.
