  • Excellent little controller.
This is my third 8BitDo controller. The others are Bluetooth (SF30, M30) but there's something nice and simple about this 2.4G version. The usb receiver makes it dead easy to connect and the connection is rock solid and I've noticed no lag. I'm using this with my Raspberry Pi 400 to play PC Engine/TG16, NES and Master System games. It's perfect for all those plus older arcade games and really anything with a simple 2 button control scheme. The turbo buttons are extremely useful in the type of games the PC Engine excels in: Shootemups. The build quality is excellent. It feels solid. My only criticism is that it's a little small but I haven't found it to be uncomfortable. The charging port is micro usb as opposed to usb-c but it gets the job done. The battery charges quickly and if this is like the others in the 8bitdo line I don't expect to have to charge again for weeks. ... show more

  • Really decent controllers, great for MiSTer
I picked a couple of these up to use with my MiSTer setup. They really make using the TurboGrafx core feel authentic. I can't comment on how they feel compared to original TurboGrafx controllers but they do feel good. The buttons and dpad are all responsive and have good tactility. It's really easy to recommend these, especially on sale. ... show more

  • Great controller for the Analogue Duo
Color: PCE Edition
I recently bought the Analogue Duo and this controller pairs well and performs well. My only comment is that it’s a bit small but after a few plays it feels good and responds well. I’ll be picking up a second one soon.

  • The gold standard for wireless PCE/TG16 controllers
Color: PCE Edition
It took a bit of doing, but these do indeed connect to the Analogue Duo without the dongle. I'll always be bummed by the lack of Turbo Switches on a lot of these newer Turbo controllers, but the rapid fire buttons are a fine compromise. 8bitdo makes good stuff! Sturdy and reliable, as always.

  • Great for more than just PCE Mini/Switch
Color: PCE Edition
I bought this controller, more than anything else, because I've always been a big fan of 8BitDo's products. I, so far, have one version of every controller they've sold, and when I saw this thing, despite not being huge on Turbografx/PCE, I bought it because it happened to state that it also works on Windows. I was a bit disappointed to hear, a few days after ordering it, that the amazon answers section stated this controller cannot be used on Windows with the adapter- it had to be wired. This is a lie. I don't know why 8BitDo's amazon answers are incorrect here, but they are. The controllers work on Windows with the adapter, so it's wireless. Given, it is detected as directinput, but for emulators that doesn't matter, and if you want to play something on Steam with them you can just use a program like Xoutput to fix the directinput situation. The build quality for these guys, as with the rest of the 8BitDo line, is fantastic. It feels like a first-party controller! Buttons are just the perfect amount of click, and the circular dpad registers inputs satisfyingly well. In fact, the face buttons happen to feel EXACTLY like that of a new NES controller's. Now, there is one caveat that someone like myself wasn't expecting. With the majority of 8BitDo controllers, the way turbo works is you hold a special button down, and click another, and that button you chose goes into "turbo mode". So, I expected this to give me four face buttons to work with in Xoutput or emulators, but instead, it's not quite that way. The two face buttons above the bottom two are mapped to the same input as the ones below- in the controller itself. That means that, no matter what, to my knowledge, instead of you being able to get use out of four face buttons, the top two buttons will always be constantly turbofire versions of the A and B buttons below them. This CAN be an issue depending on what you want to play with this controller. That leaves me with some people wanting to use it on Windows wondering who it is for. Well, to put it simply, it'll be my mainstay NES/GBC emulation controller from now on, on top of some specific other games on Steam, such as Mega Man 9 and 10. Seriously, it's great for that. Essentially, it's a better NES Pad- rounded sides, amazing buttons, a circular dpad I could swoon over- seriously, for some NES or GBC, it doesn't get much better than this. And you still have those turbo buttons at easy, constant access as their own buttons. And so, that's my way of looking at this controller. As someone who wants it for PCE/Turbografx mini, I'd say you should totally buy these, they're fantastic. But even for me, someone who doesn't have that console and just loves 8BitDo controllers, I have a reason to own this, and seriously, it's still different and nice-enough feeling to use over some of my other 8BitDo controllers for specific consoles. I do have to dock it a star for the two top face buttons not being buttons you can make use of outside of as A and B tubro buttons, as I could've easily found way more to play with this controller if I could map those to X and Y on windows, but this controller is an easy recommendation from me if you want to play some NES/GBC, or, you know. The mini console this was specifically made for. ... show more

  • Simple and effective, as it should be.
Color: PCE Edition
Despite hearing about 8BitDo in the retro controller scene a while back, for whatever reason I was hesitant to try any of their line. Something about them just didn't seem like they would stack up to first party standard. That was an error of judgment. Since I had to settle for the PC Engine Mini over the extremely scarce of TurboGrafx Mini units, I was missing out on the turbo controllers the western counterparts got. In seeking to rectify that, this looked like the most trusted and cost feasible alternative, and that trust was well earned. The controller is easy to set up (just press the "Home" button when the dongle is inserted on the Mini), feels even more comfortable on the hands than the system's official controller, and has not given me any input lag or interference in my hours with it so far. ... show more
