I ordered this on a whim because we've had to use something similar before when our air conditioner went out and I wanted to have this as a backup in case we ever need to use it again, and this is perfect for that. Seriously, this air conditioner is so easy to use and works so well! It pushes out so much air and gets so cold it's fantastic! We actually hooked this up to test it and played cards while it was warming up (it takes a few minutes before it actually starts putting out truly cold air) and the room ended up getting so cold that we actually had to turn this off because the room got uncomfortably cold which is fantastic for something like this! Also something I especially love about this is that the way the venting attaches to the back of the air conditioner unit, it slides onto the back of the unit and is so easy to hook into place or remove when needed. One thing I don't totally love about this is how the venting piece hooks into the little plastic window framing part this comes with, it's very easy for the little vent part to pop off the window framing part which is a bit annoying. I did end up getting it to stay in place, but it didn't stay in place as well and would pop off sometimes. All in all though this air conditioner is seriously fantastic and we couldn't be happier with it. It blows very cold air and blows a lot of it on high which is great, and the included venting and plastic window framing and remote all work great and are so easy to use. This is a nice little air conditioner that brings temps down and cuts down humidity just as advertised. One major problem with it as noted below. The box showed up a bit mangled (nothing to be done about that really), but the unit has pretty solid packaging and it was ultimately OK. It has a simple look but doesn't appear (or feel) cheap. There was one slight negative issue and one big problem. The issue is that it's pretty loud compared to some other portable AC units. It's got a pretty high power fan, which generally makes up for it. But it may keep some awake if you use it in a bedroom. The big problem was water leakage. We ran it overnight and didn't think anything of it. By morning the area rug and floor were soaking wet - probably a gallon of water leaked out of it. We double-checked the drain caps, both were tight. The "full" light never came on and the unit never shut off. We have two other portable AC units in our outbuildings and they never need draining or leak a drop of water. As for the unit's performance, it's right in line with other smaller portable AC units. It spits out a pretty high volume of very cold air. As long as you're not trying to cool or dehumidify a space that's too big for the unit, it works just fine. There are also no strange smells (i.e., that chemical tinge that sometimes shows up with AC units, filters, etc.), so I have no issue placing this in a living space. Like most portable units, it's not particularly efficient in terms of power, but it might still save you money if you rely on a central HVAC unit and you really only need to cool a single room. The unit cools effectively and it's not terribly expensive, it's easy to move around, and usability is simple (and has a remote if that's your kind of thing). If you buy this one start out with a pan underneath in case it leaks. We used a boot tray with high sides and you can see the water rising. ... show more
