  • Thin, Dark, and Retro. This lens is awesome.
Size: Compatible with Fujifilm FX-mount *: Second Version
For $60? Come on, this thing is awesome. Solid metal construction, zero complaints there. Focus ring throw is 1/4 turn of the whole lens, so it's easy to whip focus around if you need to, but realistically you'll be at the "∞" setting all the time. Being fixed at F6.3 means that, at the infinity setting, anything from about 2 ft away to infinity will be in focus. So you won't likely touch the focus ring much / ever. Essentially, this lens is a point-and-shoot dream. Never have to touch focus, not wasting battery on AF motors, no choices to make. Just turn on the camera and fire the shutter! Extremely easy. 18mm is a nice choice, too. Plenty of room to capture your scene. Before IQ, I can't stress enough how _small_ this lens is. It's a brilliant fit on my X-Pro3, with the front edge of the lens just a couple millimeters further out from the built-in grip! I have several XF lenses and nothing comes close to making the X-Pro3 feel like a true rangefinder than this one. It's actually even smaller (thinner) than my X100V. Neat! Carry this thing anywhere. Okay, image quality. This is not a clinical, sharp, corporate-headshots / product-images type lens. It's $60. Go get your $2k G-master for that. What this lens is, is a very filmic piece of glass. Does it have some vignetting on the edges? Yep. Is it slow? Yep — F6.3, especially indoors, means high ISO. Does is somehow blend with the X-Trans IV's high-ISO grain (and/or JPG grain settings) to give you brilliant film-y images with BEAUTIFUL film grain? Absolutely. No idea how it does this, but it just does. The photos I shoot through this lens (particularly with Classic Neg or Acros) look more filmic than pretty much any other lens I shoot. Would I try this lens on the X-Trans V 40MP sensors? Probably not. Would I try it on the older sensors? Absolutely. What this lens doesn't have in resolution resolving power it totally makes up for in character and filmy style. That pairs great with the 26MP X-Trans VI and I can only imagine even more-so on the older sensors. For $60 and Amazon's return policy... give this thing a try. It's great. It'll take you to a simplistic place with your photography that's just "frame and shoot". ... show more

  • So much fun in such a small package!
Size: Compatible with Fujifilm FX-mount *: Second Version
Like a lot of photographers, I love using the best glass I can afford on my two Fujifilm cameras. Over the years, that has required some financial investment and, though I went from Nikon DSLRs a few years back to Fuji, partially for the sake of the Fuji’s smaller size and lighter weight, I often enjoy seeing just how small and light I can make my camera/lens combo for casual photo walks around town. So, when I heard of this 7artisans 18mm f/6.3 pancake lens, and saw how affordable it was, it was a slam-dunk. I had to try it! The short version of my review: I’m having a ball with this thing! The size, light weight and affordability evoked the order. But using it for a while, now, has me loving it. Mounted to my smaller Fuji, an X-T30, it adds practically no weight and the whole package slides in and out of my vest or jacket pocket quickly and easily. Shooting with it draws minimal attention, as it certainly doesn’t look like a pro rig. Focusing manually is fast, and even faster if I just estimate the distance and use a zone focusing method. It’s pretty much back to point-and-shoot days! Is this as sharp as my Fuji lenses? Well, no. But the results I’m getting are so close that no one viewing my photos has seemed to notice. I am, of course, talking photos that I’m posting online, not blowing up as large prints. Minimum focus distance isn’t all that bad at 0.3M. And, hey… there’s no lens cap to fiddle with. Actually, I would like to have a rubber cap, or something, though, just to keep the little lens protected. It could even be as simple as the kind of rubber cap that is sometimes over each end of binoculars. No deal breaker, though. The 7artisans 18mm pancake lens is proving to be great fun to use and a real conversation starter with other photographers. This isn’t a lens for everyone, but it is a fun lens for some of us. I like to challenge myself to short photo walks for which I limit myself to one lens and, maybe, B&W, or square format, etc. This has been a great lens for that. For how fun this lens it and how well it performs for the very affordable price, I give it 5 stars. ... show more

  • Good but not great
The lens itself looks nice but feels a bit cheap. Now for the price, one can't really complain much. The images however do come out more on the softer side. Since the lens does not have a focus ring, everything that is at least 0.35m away should be in focus, however it's hard to tell because when I look into the viewfinder it looks like the lens is a bit dirty or something. ... show more

  • Good but has flaws
Size: Compatible with Canon EOS M-mount *: Second Version
It’s a good lens, I mainly go interested on this to have a small ufo lens on my “point and shoot” set up with my canon Eos M2, but it has very strong vignette which you can’t fully fix on LR, but it does amazing for just point and shooting and has a very filmic like style of photo. You can put it on infinite focus so you can just point and shoot as much as you want, but make sure you shoot in daylight because this lens is a F/6.3 meaning you need light too shoot. If you don’t care about the flaws and wants those flaws I think it’s worth it, but if you have an old 1 time use film camera take the lens and just make your own body cap lens :) ... show more
