Soft large corduroy patterned material. I’m tone as the top back is so flat that it a perfect to put plates of food on it. It does hold pillows that you rest your head on. The only thing I wished was done was a a more curved back the edge does dig in a bit. The material is firm akin to a firm memory foam mattress topper. It’s fully assembled all you have to do is pull off the Velcro nylon protector stuck to the looper Velcro part and stick together. I bought some lumber already cut from Home Depot 2-6x4 and 5 pieces of 2x4 to build a platform of 4” riser (added some backer board also found at Home Depot all for another $30) as the sofa was a bit too short for my family. Adding 4” height is more comfortable for everyone. Only petite slim person maybe 150lbs or less and 5’8” could lay down comfortably but anyone else may fall off and only suitable for sitting unless you want to pull out for a two single bed which I love also multiple functional use furniture. It is also 30” in width but it still works. I will update later if fabric tears since the corner where the pillows sit in my pictures are very tight and worry it will tear. ... show more

Its okay not something I would recommend
Its comfortable but not stable, the velcro is not sticking and the couch keeps falling apart, only good if you have it laying on the floor, too much to try and return so i just kept it
