  • Great wall safe for the price. Fit perfectly, easy install & setup.
Color: New Cream
This is a great wall safe. I bought it to store some of my handguns, and they both fit nicely. I receive the exact model pictured here, not sure how one review received the wrong one. Installation: When you open the box you will need to rip the plastic bag containing the manual key and instructions so you can use this key to open the door. There is a small Philips screw holding the cover on, you will need to remove this screw and cover to access the key hole (warning: when you remove the cover it also holds the number pad in place so it can fall off). Once the safe is opened you can put the batteries in and use the red button to program your code. I then measured dimensions of the protruding back end of the safe, and found the location of one stud where I wanted to mount it; I then cut the opening to match the dimensions from the backing of the safe. It fit in perfectly, and I was able to secure it to studs on both sides of the safe, I made my cut so that one side of the safe was flush against the stud, and I would estimate I had about a 1"-1.5" gap on the other side. The lag bolts that came with it are a bit small for the application, but with 3 on each side I felt it was secure enough. Uses: The unit stores both of my handguns easily a .40 and a .38, I have them standing up on the bottom shelf, as well as multiple spare magazines and boxes of bullets. The middle shelf can only be utilized to about ½ the depth since the battery and tumbler mechanism protrude out into that area. Conclusion: It is a great wall safe for security of smaller items, with a programmable coded entry. I am not sure if this is the best "Hidden" safe since the key pad and turn knob protrude out the front almost an inch, so if your picture has a flat back it will not sit flush against the wall, and be pushed out by the safe. We have ours mounted in a walk-in closet behind the hanging clothes so I am not concerned about that issue. Even with that minor issue for the price, and easy installation it is definitely worth it, and still a 5-star item. ... show more

  • Inexpensive, solid, great features, easy install
Color: New Cream
First of all, everything you need to know was in the description and in the pictures. I installed this in less than 30 minutes and that was including vacuuming up the sheet rock dust. Before you try to install it, read through the instructions and get down the process of locking and unlocking. It tells you not to lock the keys in the safe, so don’t. Test out your codes and make sure both work. Once you get that down, you will be fine. Yes, you have to remove the little screw to open up the panel to access it with the key. You may want to find a small pocket screwdriver to keep around the safe should you need it. You may want to find a small pocket screwdriver to keep around the safe should you need it. 1) if your house is a newer construction from the last 20+ years, your wall studs should be 16 inches apart. I would use a stud finder, available for less than $10 everywhere, to mark the edges of your studs. Once you do that, quickly measure to see if they are close to 16 inches. 2) next I used a level and marked a line straight down on the edge of one of the studs. I then cut that line out what the sheet rock saw available for less than $10 and any tool store. 3) next I cut both the top and bottom horizontal lines after I measured them. Then finally I cut out the other side vertical line. 4) I remove the piece of sheet rock and said that on the side. Then I placed the safe and to the opening. Once I’ve verified I had enough clearance, I did the code and open the door. 5) i’ve then, using a pencil, marked the three holes on each side of the safe where the screws will go. 6) next i used a drill bit, smaller than the diameter of the screws, and drilled my six holes. 7) I then installed all six screws. Super simple. My only complaint is that I would like the beeping sound to be turned off so that I could access in secret. Another person stated he removed the beeping mechanism from the circuit board. I may try that. ... show more
