  • Works with Rise Garden
Size: 70PCS-Cylinder
These are a good replacement / alternative for Rise Garden pods. I’ve now gone through the entire pack of 70 and everything has sprouted/grown just as well as the Rise-brand pods.

  • A convenient, reliable product for starting all kinds of plants from seed.
Size: 70PCS-Cylinder
I used these to start almost all of the vegetable seedlings for my garden this year. I do not have the planter that these are intended as refills for, but they fit fine into the wells of the starter trays I already had. I like the fact that you can save seed by planting only 1-2 seeds in each plug, even though planting with tweezers can get tedious. When ready for transplanting, these sponge plugs protect the seedlings' delicate roots much better than a clump of loose soil pulled out of the same size starter trays. I recommend this product. ... show more

  • No Good
Size: 70PCS-Cylinder
I purchased these for my table hydroponic herb starter. It’s use is simple and straightforward. It fit loosely on my hydroponic herb starter. Though it retains moisture, the seeds did not sprout as well as the pods that came with the hydroponic herb starter. It didn't work as well as the original ones. Even though it is inexpensive, I don't recommend it. ... show more

  • No good for Lettuce Grow Farmstand
Size: 70PCS-Cylinder
We were searching for a grow pod that we could start our own seeds for our Lettuce Grow Farmstand. The problem is that our needs are very specific. It needs to be a sponge that does not hit the full rim because we use custom 3D printed cup covers that sit on the inside rim. This means the sponge needs to be around 1.5 or 1.6 inches tall at most (when expanded). Also, ideally, we would also like to be able to start or at least interchangeably use the same sponges between our Aerogarden and our Lettuce Grow Farmstand. The problem with typical Aerogarden sponges is that they are too long to fit in the farmstand unless we try to fish the tail end of the sponge through one of the holes in the bottom of the Farmstand cup. It's a less than ideal solution because it makes it harder to move plants to new cups, clean cups when something is growing, and there's always the fear one of the bottom taps might snap off. Grow Your Own Seed Pod - Complete Seed Pod Plugs with Plant Food - Grower's Choice 70 Pack Grow Sponges, Starter Plug for Seeds or Cuttings Jutom 60 Pieces Hydroponic Seed Grow Sponges 200 Pcs Grow Sponges Pods Kit - Ziliny TEZKOLES 50 Pack The Grower's Choice sponge is an "ok" option. It's advertised for the Lettuce Grow (along with Click and Grow), but even dry it's a very tight fit inside the Farmstand cup. The value is also a little high for only 10 pods. It's almost worth it to just by seedlings from Lettuce Grow directly as an alternative. Probably should point out that there is embedded time released fertilizer pellets inside the sponge. You can see them quite clearly. The problem is that in a hydroponic system, you shouldn't want or even need fertlizer in the grow media because you should have everything in the nutrient tank. Given the choice, I would rather have more sponges without embedded fertlizer than fewer with. Not sure of the rational on this one. It seems like this would just be better for starting seeds and then putting the whole thing into a potted container. The 70 Pack of Grow Sponges are ok, but they just dont work for Farmstand cups. It sits too high in the cup and the little tappered bottom is the main culprit. The Jutom and Ziliny use identical sponges and cups. The only difference is quantity, so pick whichever is the best value. Overall, these are good choices if you need to interchange between an Aerogarden system and a Lettuce Grow. When expanded, the pods sit in the top most part of an Aerogarden pod. They still are too small to put in a Farmstand on their own, but you can place them inside the included cups and put that whole thing inside a Farmstand. There's enough space to top off with a bit of hydroton and or use the 3D printed cup covers. If you're only looking to start seeds in the Farmstand don't use any other system, the TEZKOLES sponges fit the bill the best. They sit low enough under the rim to use the 3D printed cup covers. At the same time, they are wide enough and large to maximize the amount of sponge media you can use in the Farmstand cup. ... show more

  • These work to get a head start
Size: 70PCS-Cylinder
I'm still a novice grower. I also don't have a lot of space to store soil and seed trays if I want a head start on the garden season. I've used peat pots and peat pellets and they've worked well... IF I had the humidity dome they're meant to go in. So, I'm very grateful I received these grow sponges to try out at the top of summer! They work just as wonderfully as peat pellets (without the mess of the fabric housing falling apart and peat going everywhere) and I had many seeds germinate into strong sprouts. My only concern/gripe was the inability to control the planting depth of the seeds. Some seeds (example: snapdragons, celosia, cosmos and English daisies) need to be covered by ONLY 1/8" (3 mm) of soil to germinate and any deeper means they're not getting the sunlight they need to sprout. My only fix was to shred the sides of the grow sponge and use those pieces to fill in the hole before I added the seeds. In the future, I'll just save these plugs for planting larger seeds that take a while to germinate (I'm looking at you, delphinium, morning glory, mammoth dill and sweet peas). I found I could lay plastic cling wrap over the tray housing these starter sponges and add water to the bottom of the tray as needed with great success! When I need more peat pellets, I'll turn to these less messy ones. ... show more

  • Smaller starts for a bigger yield...
Size: 70PCS-Cylinder
We are well past growing season in my area, but I look forward to an earlier start on my garden for next season, I'm more prepared for it now! These little peat pot seed starters will eliminate my guilt for throwing away excess sprouts as germination begins. There are plenty to work with as they are smaller than some I have used before. I'm thinking the smaller size can better isolate tomatoes, carrots, and other small seeds that are difficult to not over-seed. The result of that creates too much competition between young sprouts trying to thrive when too close to one another. The more I save... the more plants... more productive garden... the more I can share. ... show more
