If you want a fast 70–200 for Sony without paying G-Master prices, this is the sweet spot. Before buying, I dug through a lot of tests, and results consistently put this lens between Sony GM I and GM II—and my real-world shots back that up. What stands out Image quality: Tack-sharp across the range with great contrast and pleasing bokeh at f/2.8. Autofocus: Fast and confident for action; it kept up for my sports photography with very few misses. Stabilization (OS): Lets me use slower shutter speeds than I’d expect and pairs well with Sony IBIS. Build: Pro-grade construction, weather-sealed feel, and a thoughtful control layout. It looks and handles like a serious tool. Value: Not cheap, but best value in the 70–200/2.8 class for E-mount. It’s already paid for itself in gigs. Could be better Weight: It’s heavy. I shot a little over 3 hours handheld and felt it in my back. For long sports sessions, plan on a monopod/tripod (or some back-day workouts). Bottom line Outstanding sharpness, focus, stabilization, and build—at a price that undercuts Sony’s G-Master while delivering pro results. This lens is absolutely fantastic. The image quality is incredibly sharp, and the autofocus is fast and reliable. It's also surprisingly portable for a 70-200mm, definitely heavier than a 50mm prime lol, but honestly amazing to carry around. Highly recommended!

I’m very happy with this lens. The image quality is very sharp and the colors look great. The autofocus is fast and quiet. It feels strong and well made. I like the zoom range, it helps me get close to my subject. It is a bit heavy, but that’s normal for this type of lens. For me, it is worth it and works great on my Sony camera. I'll start off with that if you have money to burn, Sony glass is always the best option. But this Sigma is nearly identical optically and even performs better in some categories like LOCA. The Sony does have some better ergonomics in areas, and there are definitely things you can nitpick about this lens. But for a whopping $1,300 less than the Sony option, this thing is a winner. Sigmas build quality is excellent. It is a little bit on the heavier side. You'll definitely notice when holding it up for long periods of time. But that's just the nature of telephoto lenses. It's easy to customize and use all of the buttons on the lens. Lots of options for making it work the way you need it to. After spending months of looking at options between this lens and the Sony G Maister, I decided to go with this and 1000%. I don’t regret it the quality the speed of this lenses incredible. After using it for a few months now between photography and videography, I would highly recommend this lens for the quality of images and video output. The only minor negative I could say is a lens cap, It’s a little bit weird with the little twist screw on and if you don’t remove it completely, you can’t use the zoom correctly. The bokeh coming from this lense is super clean, i’ve used it in both outdoors to photograph headshot and lasso photos and also indoors for stage events to photograph Kino speakers and record video content as well. ... show more

Was sceptical at first but for $1k less than the Sony I can't complain. This 70-200 does it all. Autofocus is actually faster than the Sony and there is barely any focus breathing. Only issue I have is that during zooming while sports video the focus doesn't work until you quit zooming, but then it focuses instantly. During slow zoom it keeps the focus. It's heavier than it's Sony counterpart and the Zoom ring is opposite direction than the sony one and a bit stiffer but nothing that would justify paying $1k more . I love this lens and it's my new go to lens for interviews, Family Pics, Sports Videography and Weddings. You won't regret picking this up. UPDATE : It's been over 2 Years and I used the hell out of this lens. If I ever could start my Film/Photo Career over I would buy THIS lens first before any other lens. The F2.8 is amazing and the quality of this glass makes it look super cinematic and amazing. Thank you SIGMA. ... show more
