  • Never regretted it 👍🏻

For me, it's just a masterpiece of perfection and affordability. Using it to take pictures of surfers (very close to the shores) and seagulls fighting for Doritos I throw to them to snap some pics at Soní Beach in Clulebra, Puerto Rico. Not using it right now for paid work, but hey, you have to splurge on yourself sometimes, after all, photography is what we all love to do. ... show more

  • Sigma 70–200mm f/2.8 DG DN OS (Sony E) — Over best value for your money
Style: Lens Only
If you want a fast 70–200 for Sony without paying G-Master prices, this is the sweet spot. Before buying, I dug through a lot of tests, and results consistently put this lens between Sony GM I and GM II—and my real-world shots back that up. What stands out Image quality: Tack-sharp across the range with great contrast and pleasing bokeh at f/2.8. Autofocus: Fast and confident for action; it kept up for my sports photography with very few misses. Stabilization (OS): Lets me use slower shutter speeds than I’d expect and pairs well with Sony IBIS. Build: Pro-grade construction, weather-sealed feel, and a thoughtful control layout. It looks and handles like a serious tool. Value: Not cheap, but best value in the 70–200/2.8 class for E-mount. It’s already paid for itself in gigs. Could be better Weight: It’s heavy. I shot a little over 3 hours handheld and felt it in my back. For long sports sessions, plan on a monopod/tripod (or some back-day workouts). Bottom line Outstanding sharpness, focus, stabilization, and build—at a price that undercuts Sony’s G-Master while delivering pro results. If you shoot events, sports, portraits, or paid work in general, this lens is an easy recommendation. ... show more

  • $1,300 less than the Sony 70-200 GM2
Style: Lens Only
I'll start off with that if you have money to burn, Sony glass is always the best option. But this Sigma is nearly identical optically and even performs better in some categories like LOCA. The Sony does have some better ergonomics in areas, and there are definitely things you can nitpick about this lens. But for a whopping $1,300 less than the Sony option, this thing is a winner. Sigmas build quality is excellent. It is a little bit on the heavier side. You'll definitely notice when holding it up for long periods of time. But that's just the nature of telephoto lenses. It's easy to customize and use all of the buttons on the lens. Lots of options for making it work the way you need it to. If you're not convinced already, check out many of the amazing reviews on YouTube about this lens. ... show more

  • Super sharp, fast AF and worth every penny
Style: Lens Only
I recently purchased this lens to replace my Tamron v1 exclusively to shoot high school basketball. Two things that I noticed right off the bat. 1 at the same aperture this lens produces brighter images than the Tamron. 2 When it comes to auto focus, this lens is a game changer.. when you half press the shutter, you could instantly see the action freeze , making it super easy to get the proper composition. This is certainly a lot heavier than my previous lens but with the image quality speed of the auto focus and image stabilization, it will be a keeper in my bag for many years to come.. ... show more

  • Get OFF the Fence and GET this lens!!!
Style: Lens Only
I was back and forth over this and the Sony lens. This is SHARP (zoomed all the way out) and fast. Finally, getting those shots I've always wanted at my son's football games… other camera guy at the game has a Sony camera with the large white Sony lens… my set up looks better with the all black lens and camera… caught him looking a few times 😎 I'm always trying to trip it up but it I can't. Taking pictures of planes just passing over my house… was shocked at the details it picked up. I just take pictures of random things just to see what it looks like afterwards. Low-light pics are also excellent! You won't regret it. I told myself I will just try it and probably return it because it was just outside of my budget even though it is affordable compared to a lot of other options. Guys, you REALLY get what you pay for. This ain't going nowhere. ... show more

  • Perfect aperture and zoom range for capturing ballroom dance
Style: Lens Only
It’s big and heavy, but that’s what I expected after watching lots of YT reviews. Used it a couple of times. I thought I would need a mono pod, but ended up using a table to rest my elbows on. Used it for capturing pictures of some Ballroom dancing, so indoors with reasonable light. Definitely need the F2.8 aperture and a high iso setting to freeze the movement and capture clear pictures. The zoom range was perfect for filling the frame with the dancers from the other end of the dance floor and not be so zoomed in that it doesn’t work when they are right in front of me. ... show more
