Recently got a great deal on a 2005 Toyota Corolla. I have a rav and love my CarPlay. So this was one of the first things I purchased for this car. So let’s go pro/com style here. There’s additional info in the video attached. Pros: Easy installation, easy connection to phone, CarPlay works great AND wirelessly, the touch screen is responsive, perhaps a TINY bit less than my Ravs factory screen. It connects automatically to CarPlay once the phone has been paired, and it will pair to the correct phone on its own. Sound quality is pretty good. Cons: the size. While it SAYS it fits my car model specifically, it does not. There are two gaps on either side. I have ordered a frame to go around it and hope that that works as it’s for that stereo specifically, but thus far, that also doesn’t fit so it’s being altered to fit. It needed to be filed down a little. The microphone, it’s terrible. No one can hear me when I talk on the phone on CarPlay or Bluetooth. Lastly, the Bluetooth. The sound quality is not as good as it is with CarPlay. I know that sounds weird, but it just isn’t the same. Have not tried the backup camera yet. I will update when we cross that bridge.

I was honestly skeptical because this radio was only about $50, but after installing it I’m very impressed. Amazon recommended an additional mounting kit when I purchased the radio, so I ordered both at the same time. I’m glad I did. The included mounting hardware works, but the additional dash kit gave the installation a much cleaner, more flush factory-style appearance. Once installed, the value is incredible. Wireless Apple CarPlay connects automatically every time I start the car. No need to reconnect or mess with settings. The touchscreen is responsive, the display is clear, and navigation, music, and calls all work exactly as expected. Sound quality is surprisingly good. I compared it to the factory radio and didn’t notice any loss in audio quality. Music playback is clean and plenty loud. In some ways, the user experience is actually better than the infotainment system in my wife’s 2023 Mazda CX-5 because CarPlay launches faster and is simpler to use. The only area that isn’t perfect is call quality. People can hear me, but my wife mentioned that my voice sounded a little quiet and not quite as clear as a factory system. For me this isn’t a big issue since I mainly use CarPlay for navigation and music, but it’s worth mentioning for anyone who spends a lot of time on phone calls. For anyone with an older vehicle looking to add modern features without spending hundreds of dollars, this is one of the best value upgrades I’ve purchased. Between the radio and the recommended dash kit, I ended up with a setup that looks modern, works reliably, and completely transformed the driving experience. Overall rating: 4.5/5. Excellent value for the money.

Works as described, it’s smaller then I thought it would be is size and depth. Compared to the brick of the old stereo it’s small. Doesn’t make the sound quality as the old stereo. You get what you pay for.
