SOLID – Full modern feature set: Wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, touchscreen – Great way to bring an ’03 Matrix up to modern standards – Backup camera included if you want it – Better reviews than similar budget units I’ve tried – Perfect starting point before upgrading the speakers – Clean first impression and feels decently built for the price SUSPECT – Haven’t installed yet — real performance still unknown – Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto on budget units can be hit-or-miss – Screen brightness/clarity untested – Backup camera may struggle with snow and Alaska winters – Sound quality depends heavily on both the head unit AND the aging factory speakers EXPERIENCE Got this for the wife’s Matrix since she mentioned wanting a better sound system. Figured the smart move was to start with the head unit, see how it performs, then chase speakers afterwards if needed. As long as this thing Bluetooths music cleanly and the touchscreen isn’t a laggy mess, she’ll be happy. I’m debating on the backup camera — if I can mount it somewhere that doesn’t instantly get buried in snow, I’ll hook it up. If not, no big deal. The real appeal here is giving that old Toyota a modern interface with wireless CarPlay/Android Auto so she can stream music, run maps, and ditch the ancient factory radio. Build quality and reviews look better than a similar single-DIN unit I grabbed for my work truck. Once both are installed, I’ll do a mini comparison and see which one punches above its weight class. Real judgment comes after testing it on the road. VERDICT Preliminary Solid Buy. Looks like a promising upgrade for older cars — final call once I install it and see how well the wireless features behave. PRO TIP Before you tear the dash apart, bench-test the stereo with a 12V power source. Saves you from discovering a glitch or dead unit after everything is mounted and wired in.

This 7-inch dual-DIN car infotainment system offers excellent value for its price, boasting a comprehensive suite of features: stable wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, fast Bluetooth speeds, and smooth switching between navigation, music, and phone calls. The touchscreen is highly responsive, with large, easy-to-use icons that minimize accidental touches while driving. The included rearview camera package provides significantly clearer images than expected, making parking much safer. Sound quality is decent, a noticeable improvement over the old factory system, but still falls short of high-end brands, especially in the bass, though perfectly adequate for everyday music and navigation. The system runs smoothly overall, but there's an occasional one- or two-second delay when switching apps or activating CarPlay. This doesn't affect usability but could be improved in future updates. The casing is relatively lightweight, requiring secure installation to avoid slight vibrations on bumpy roads. Overall, this system is more than adequate for those looking to quickly upgrade their older car's infotainment system experience; it's feature-rich, easy to install, and very affordable. I gave it four stars mainly because there's still room for improvement in build quality and sound quality, but I'm already very satisfied with it at this price point.

This double-din unit fits correctly and does what it needs to: wireless Android Auto works, Bluetooth is fine, and it modernizes an older car without spending much. The downsides are expected for the price—the touchscreen is a bit laggy and not very sensitive—but overall it’s a perfectly serviceable upgrade if you keep expectations realistic.

Well built radio full of options and capabilities for upgrades. Fit perfectly in the aftermarket bezel adapter and has a nice clean factory look after i installed it. The screen is large and very clear. The touch screen is very responsive and applications function properly. Bluetooth pairs easily and connection is steady with Android auto, no issues at all. The equalizer function is easy to adjust and personalize. The radio has enough power to run upgraded speakers with clarity, the subwoofer output is a nice option. Comes with backup camera and plenty of wire to hook it up, i places the camera on the inside of the rear glass in the center at the top and it captures a nice wide view. The rear cam function does not lag when putting the car in reverse. The microphone also has enough wire to connect discreetly through the pillar and is very clear when making phone calls. The remote control is another nice feature and works good. For all the functions that this head unit has and extras that it comes with it is a pretty good value for the quality.

Good quality stereo that adds a ton of functionality to older vehicle sound systems. The list of features is amazing and it was easier to install than I had imagined, and the kit even included a backup camera, which works really well and has good image quality. The high quality screen finish looks great in my wife's car and even though there is an occasional short delay in launching the carplay, it works just as well as the factory installed systems that we have in other vehicles we own. Obviously, I am impressed and highly recommending this unit to anyone looking for an affordable ($80.89 at the time I am writing this review) upgrade to their driving experience.
