The suction cups soak in boiling water for a few minutes and clean the suction cup for better results. You need to clean the glass or other smooth surface with water or rubbing alcohol before applying. How to open the Candle? I bought these a few weeks ago foe christmas decorating and have been using them since. They are very similar to the candles I replaced except they have the remote functionality and the LED looks like a wick with a flame shaped bulb (which I like). They also come with suctuon cups and as you can see in my photo we put one in our wreath on the front door. Firstly, I am really enjoying them so far. They work as advertised. The remote controls each candle independently or if they were close enough to each other it could control them simultaneously. I have one in each window and so the remote function makes turning them on and off much easier than having to physically access each candle. The remote can turn them on or off; set them to flicker or steady light; set a timer for 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours and change the brightness. All the functions have been working fine for me so far. The real test will be taking them down, storing them for a year and bringing them out for christmas next year. The only con that I have with the set is thay some of bases for the candles are too loose. So if you try to pick up the unit up by the candle the base will fall off. However if you put the base down and then insert the candle it should not be a problem just sitting there. So far I am very pleased. ... show more

These candles are perfect for high spaces because once you get them there the remote and timer take care of operating them. My ceiling is 20 feet high so the windows are about 16 feet high and only reachable with an extension ladder so once I have the candles in the windows and used the remote to power them on and set the timer on the remote for 4 hours (you can select different times) they turn on and off by themselves everyday until I took them down after new years day! I bought these candles to use as Christmas decorations for my 6 windows. They are packaged very good and individually (candles in plastic mold, batteries in plastic bag, wreathes in plastic bag, candle base in plastic bag, suction cups, and remote in plastic.) They are so beautiful! The candle color is pretty and the wreaths are gorgeous with little bells that actually ring! Didn't use suction cups because the candles in their base stood on their own. These battery operated window candles were an improvement over the 120 V plug-in variety in several ways. First, there are no extension cords to deal with. Second, there are great control features for on-off, brightness, 24 hour timer, etc. Third, they are more attractive. With our 30 year old plug-ins the only way we could do on-off was by screwing/unscrewing or plugging/unplugging; we had to be home and remember to do it. Need to say a few words about mounting in the window. These candles come with some great options -- removable bases and a suction cup clip. Every house has different windows, so it is good to have options. In our case, our window handles interfered with the plastic bases on the previous plug-in candles, leading to an awkward arrangement indeed. Here were were able to not use the optional bases, but rather simply tuck the candles behind the window handles with a bit of spacer for support. The suction clips fit perfectly with this arrangement, but were not needed. Overall this was much more attractive, and the flicker feature made it more so. Now for the quality issue. One candle, call it #6, was inoperative out of the box. A second, call it #5, was intermittent out of the box. I placed a long pencil with an eraser into the battery compartment so as to clean up the positive contact within. That seemed to improve the situation. But, as days passed, #5 was proving unreliable. Sometimes it would turn on or off unexpectedly, but I was able to keep it going. I decided after 3 weeks to buy a second pack of 6. All 6 of these seemed OK out of the box. So, in 2 boxes of 6 I now have 10 that seem OK, 1 intermittent out of the box, and 1 inoperative. Last, the longevity issue. I sure hope that we can get through the holidays with just one set of batteries at 4 hours per day. Time will tell. At 3 weeks they are still going on the first set of batteries at 4 hours per day. Just 3 more days until the New Year. And then, will these last the 30 years that our previous plug-in candles lasted? Time will tell. If the quality issue is strictly an infant mortality issue the remaining 10 might be good for a long time. ... show more

I was a bit hesitant at first to buy these because I have had battery LED candles before and they ran done super quick. But these are a game changer! I put them in the windows Dec 16th. Set them for 4 hour timer on the flicker mode which looks very much like a real flame. Today is Jan. 14th and they are still as bright as ever. I even used the batteries that came with them. Which was also a big plus since I have 12 windows I needed to order 2 boxes of these. Some of the others didn't come with batteries. Also Love the fact that they have a remote to set the timer in the candles. I highly recommend these even though they were a little pricey they are well worth it. ... show more

I was impressed with these candles. The remote works well and the flame effect looks excellent. I especially liked how easy it was to set them to come on at the same time each day automatically. The wire ties that hold the holiday decoration (wreath) was frustratingly short, but that was minor.

These are great, if all six of them work. I bought these to use as window candles for the holidays this year and one candle stopped working pretty quickly. I’d say the other three worked consistently, and another struggled to turn on with the timer even though the others had no issue. I wouldn’t buy again. ... show more

I have been looking for the perfect candles for my windows for the Christmas season. I grew up with them so I knew I wanted to recreate that beautiful aesthetic my Mother always achieved. I am always very nervous with LEDs.. I feel like you never know what you’re getting with color/brightness etc. But tick all of the boxes* and have gone above my expectations. They look sharp, and are very festive and while yes they are made of plastic, they can be dressed up and hidden in a fancier candleholder should you need. No one can tell from the street which is the audience I’m decorating for. They work well in every window- sill or no sill, thanks to the suction cups. We have a few rooms upstairs with no sill so I didn’t think anything would work.. but they’re the perfect solution (I use the suction cups up there). I was afraid they’d have to be turned off when kids went down to sleep but no, they can easily stay on with blinds down- the suction cups allow them to be pretty flush with window pane. *The only thing I admit to doing to alter these is that I rubbed a little orange marker on the flame.. this gave them a little warmer glow. The original flame brightness and color came across as too white and bright for me.. dull and unnatural if you will. Typical thing you worry about when you buy an LED. But this fixed it perfectly. Crayola marker just rubbed on and you’re golden. Small price for the perfect candle. So I highly recommend these. No LED is ever going to replace the quality of an incandescent bulb, but these are the next next best thing ! ... show more

So far so good! Bought these candles for the Christmas season and put them in my house windows. Love that they have a timer. I turned my candles on at 5:00 pm so they go on everyday the same time and shut off 6hours after. The light is a warm yellow, not the ugly white/blue led. The suction cups work well on the windows and are very visible from the outside. Easy to put together, just put batteries in and you’re good! ... show more
