    • Best $150 upgrade for a RAM Truck!
I've returned three different similar radios for incompatibility and poor performance. I love my Ram 1500, and was in sticker shock after getting quotes for $1000 from retail installers. This gave my factory speakers unbelievable sound quality using my playlist on a thumb drive and the USB connection. The split screen is great for using the GPS while using the other apps. The offline GPS is good for saving your phone's battery. Using the USB connection to mirror my phone is easy. The screen is the perfect size. Plus, this unit has a built-in microphone that works and saves you the hassle of installing. Most of the others do not have this. The backup camera works. It will mute the sound and open the camera video when you reverse. I was startled the first time somebody called me. The hands-free is nice. After trying to install three others to learn, the wiring was incompatible, or the unit kept freezing up, and having my dash already open made this easy. If you have a Ram, buy a trim removal tool set. They're $5 and an antenna cord extension of less than a foot for $5. There are videos on how to remove the cowl over the radio using the trim tool. My hack for installing the GPS antenna on your RAM makes it easy. Use the plastic trim tool to pop up only the right side of the trim mould by the windshield and the right side of the center dash cover. Lay the antenna plastic end on the dash about an inch from the windshield. It has self-seal tape on it to keep it in place. Then run the thin cable under the dash directly to the radio. As for the wiring connections. Pull the car's wiring through the opening in the snap-on connector first. Then connect it to the radio. I recommend connecting them first before installing the snap-on connector, so you know where they go, because there's not a lot of room after installing the connector. Then you push the radio, and it snaps in place. This is so much easier than the other three. There are some cons. I put my truck in ACC before starting it. Connect the phone or USB drive first. Then start it. Rams do not like long warmups. Once in a while, the signal drops while driving. The app icons on the left side of the screen are small. Occasionally, the apps slow down.     • Doesn't fit all the vehicles they say it does
I baught this for my 07 ram 1500 and the harness it came with does not work for my truck, even tho it said its compatible. I was definitely looking forward to having this but it was nothing but a let down. And now a day later of not being able to drive my truck because of hooking it up exactly like it said I found out it fried my module that runs my transmission and all my interior and is going to cost me thousands to fix. Radio constantly glitches and resets itself. Can’t keep time unless CarPlay is active. The instructions are not great. I’ll be looking for a different radio soon.
