I'm giving these a 5 star rating which is actually a 5 star rating with the caveat that you need to realize that you get what you pay for - - - these are fantastic if you only store light weight items in them, don't need a tight fitting lid, and don't need to move or carry them around from room to room. They are great for storage but I definitely would not recommend for toys or supplies that kids would be reaching for daily. If I had my kids' Lego's or art markers in them and my kids were pulling these bins off the shelf daily, the Lego's and markers would probably spend more time scattered on the floor than they would contained in the bins. These bins and lids are just not secure or sturdy enough to contend with anything other than careful handling. After a major renovation of our kitchen, pantry and laundry room, I was on a major re-organizing binge. I ordered 2 sets of these bins, and also ordered two sets of the identical, but tad smaller 6qt (12.9" deep) bins (also by IRIS). They are almost the same size (the 7qt are just about an inch longer) and they stack on each other well. I needed both sizes because not all of my cabinets are 14" deep. The 7qt bins are 13.75" deep and for 14" cabinets, they are perfect. If you have the cabinet depth, the 7qt makes more efficient use of every inch. Think about what you need these for, realize these are lightweight storage before ordering and you will be happy with them. These are very thin and flexible and tho the lids do sort of click on, as soon as you pick up or handle the bin, the Iid pops right off. I was previously using empty salad mix clamshell bins for storage and would double them up to give them more strength. One of these IRIS bins has about the same rigidity of a doubled clamshell bin. I'm using these in my pantry and laundry room to hold things like tea bags, coffee filters, sponges, plastic utensils, napkins, band aids/gauze squares. They're absolutely great for these kinds of items. I can reach for a bin with one hand, pull it out and not need to support the weight of it with my other hand. If heavier items were stored in these bins, you'd need to definitely use two hands rather than just grasp a side or end. They fact that they're thin also makes them great for using as drawer organizers bc they efficiently sit side by side without handles or thick rims taking up space. I'm using them without lids to corral Rubbermaid food storage lids, immersion blender and mixer/food processor attachments. In my experience so far, every order I've received came with cracked bins and/or lids. Outer shipping boxes were fine, but it seems that shipping damage is to be expected because they just aren't packed very well. The items are nicely nested in the packing box however there is no padding or protection around or between them. They are packed in 2 stacks side by side and all the cracks were on the inside corners where the two stacks butted up against each other. A simple sheet of foam between the two stacks may have prevented this damage. Of course Amazon was amazing in letting me return the one set, but that also meant I needed to order a replacement. For some reason, I was only given the option to return . . . not return and replace. I had to place a new order and (dang it) the price had gone up from my original Black Friday sale price. Overall, very happy with these. Know what to expect and you will be too.

I wish I had read reviews before buying; I was so excited to find this size that I forgot. The lids DO NOT snap closed. They barely fit on and definitely do not stay in place. So disappointing. Do not buy! Unless you dont care that the lid is useless. They are also extremely flimsy. I can't see them withstanding long term use.

These are just clear boxes and they act like clear boxes so I can’t really complain. It comes with so many which is great! They are definitely not air tight and the lids come off easy so be aware of that! I used them with silica crystals to preserve my wedding bouquet and I wanted something inexpensive so these worked great! Also I was nervous about what size they were compared too- they are about the size of a cardboard shoe box!

In September of 2018, I purchased this exact set to store dry goods items in my pantry to both organize and to make things more mouse proof. Every winter we get a mouse or two in the house and I want to keep pantry items unavailable for sampling. I used each container in the set and have been happy with them for 7 years. The tops snapped on securely, they have been sturdy enough to be stacked three high and you can see the contents at a glance. So even though there were cheaper sets available, I went back to buy the identical set in late 2025. The quality is not the same. The main issue is that the tops do not snap on, they sit atop the container loosely. My cat can bat the tops right off with a gentle swipe. The containers are noticeably less sturdy overall. I can only stack them two high and even that is a bit tenuous if the top container is full. You can see the lid on the bottom container flexing inward. I am aware that they are called shoe boxes and they would be fine for storing shoes or craft supplies. They just aren’t suitable for a use where you want the lid to snap on.

The lids on the 6.7qt are too thin and do not fit as well as the larger sizes like the 14.5qt size. However, they are a lot lower cost. To organize light-weight items and keep dust out, they are okay, but they cannot be stacked and expected to remain vertical, nor do I expect them to be moisture or insect proof given the bad lids. The sidewalls and bottom seem sturdy enough for the size. I ended up using them to organize items and store them on 12” shelves, stacked only two high per shelf with the short side facing out. They overhang the shelf by 1-5/8”, which is fine for my use case as there is plenty on the shelf to keep it from falling off. The 14.5qt size sounds a lot bigger than the 6.7qt, but if storing irregular sized items in it, it fills up fast. The 14.5qt size is quite sturdy, and the container and lid are thick enough to withstand some heavy use and stack nicely. I have them stacked 4 units high on 18” wire shelving and have ordered more of this size. I like the 14.5qt size enough that I have also ordered the larger size in the hopes of storing some of my larger shop tooling in them. Iris makes some nice containers. I also have some of this brand that seal and have clasps to keep the lid on. However, the 6.7qt ones are the worst of their products I have yet seen. While the price is a lot lower, so is the quality and it falls below the threshold of what I can normally use. If only the lid was thicker, it would be well worth the price, but as is, I won’t buy any more of the 6.7qt. I suppose it would be fine for shoes under the bed, but not for daily use.
