We got this bed for my son's first mattress larger than his toddler bed. We purchased it to place in his Jeep bed. We love the fact that it is thinner than a normal mattress because it allows the Jeep bed base to function as a rail around the edge. It works perfectly for our set up. I was thinking we would only use it for this but I have been happily surprised with it's sturdiness for a thinner mattress. The top of the mattress is soft an the rest feels firm in order to support you. I think it works well for a child or adult!
