I ordered this 6-inch benchtop jointer to add to my small woodworking setup, and I’ve been really impressed with how well it performs. It’s heavy enough to stay put on the bench during use without sliding around, even when feeding larger boards through. I’ll probably bolt it down at some point, but honestly, it’s stable enough right out of the box. Setup was fast and minimal—I didn’t need to do much calibration, and the fence was square right away, which I didn’t expect. What really surprised me was how quiet it runs for a jointer. Compared to some other tools in my shop, this one doesn’t scream when you turn it on, and the cutting head produces clean, smooth surfaces with no snipe or tearout. I’ve run both soft and hardwood through it, and everything has come out perfectly flat and square. The HSS blades are sharp and precise, and adjustments to depth or fence angle are straightforward. I do think a cast iron fence might last longer under heavy use, but the one that comes with it has been holding up just fine so far. For the price, this jointer offers serious value. It’s built well, performs better than expected, and doesn’t take up a ton of space in the shop. Whether you're upgrading from an old model or buying your first jointer, this one checks all the boxes. If you’re on a budget or just need something reliable for weekend projects, this is a solid choice.

The blades, deck, and motor are all great. However the fence is extremely hard to square and even harder to keep the workpiece square without any featherboards. If you already have a table saw, youare better off building a jointinf jig. And if you already have a router table and a 1/2" collet, you will get better results shimming the fence on the router table. I'm returning it and opting for a better machine if I decide to still buy a jointer.

As a hobbyist woodworker who is thinking about transitioning into making it into a side gig, funds are tight for tool purchases. As much as I'd love to drop $$ on a brand name model, I just can't justify it right now. So I jumped at the opportunity to acquire one through the Vine Program (where reviewers only pay taxes on the fair market value in exchange for honest reviews). And while I had very low expectations for this jointer, as it is among the least expensive 6" models available anywhere, I was pleasantly surprised by the performance. Assembly is relatively simple, though a pictorial guide might have been helpful. The fence and the guard certainly reflect its entry level status -- and extra care needs to be taken to avoid putting your hands anywhere near the blade -- but both could be improved with a little ingenuity and additional parts. That being said, I was able to flatten one side on several short pieces of walnut to my satisfaction. I would not recommend running longer/heavier pieces through this without bolting or clamping it down, as the weight of the unit isn't sufficient to ensure against tipping. But if you are like me, and looking for an inexpensive way to get a basic jointer, this might be the ticket.

I've always wanted access to the capacity a jointer provides in flushing out wood, but didn't have the space for the larger models in my garage/workshop. This tabletop jointer is the PERFECT solution. It spans a full 6 inches, which is more than enough for any of my projects. And if you need something with wider board width, you can just joint another board as well and be certain of a SPOTLESS connection with no gaps between them. Works great and is well made. The housing is sturdy and the design is well thought out. Can be installed directly onto a workbench if needed. Accurate readings for cutting depth, and a fantastic value for the money...HIGHLY RECOMMEND

This Woodstarter benchtop pointer ships in a heavy corrugated cardboard box. The unit itself is 21 pounds and sits comfortably on a bench and doesn't exhibit movement during usage. It includes high-speed steel cutting blades, adjustable fence/depth, and a 6-inch cutting width, nice for typical homeowner/hobbyist non-commercial work. The unit feels robust and made of premium materials and has performed well so far, and as others have noted is quiet. Setup was simple with minimal calibration.
