Couldn't use for my intended purpose, but not at all the latches' fault. Very well made. Sturdy metal which rotates/slides etc smoothly. Feels like it willl definitely excel in the longevity department. Comes with screws that match the finish, and isn't very shiny at all which makes it look more upscale and understated. The slot where the larger piece latches on to the smaller bit is several inches wider than it for the ability to bridge a few inches gap and accomodate for a wide range of door frames.

I installed this on some very large 16 foot high by 12 foot wide barn doors to give them stability in the wind and a way to lock them if needed. I was previously using a hook and eye and this is much sturdier. I installed it by myself successfully with a power drill. Compared to other similar items this one has a channel for the lock to go through so it didn't need to be perfectly precise when I mounted it which was perfect for my application in an old barn that often shifts in the the cold weather. All of the needed screws were included and the steel is solid. I'm very happy with this purchase.

a couple of things.. this works only in one direction and you need to make the screws flush. our post is uneven with the door so need to pull the door slightly to engage which also works for a snug fit. because of the long opening for a lock, you don't have to sweat out the alignment.

The latch is not ideal for a wooden gate fence. The latch would catch on the paint which was probably applied to thick causing clearance issues. The paint actually has since scraped off, and now the latch is a little bit smoother but still a cheap setup

This is good quality and easy to install. Make sure screws are flush. If not you’ll have issues closing the hinge.
