I’m not sure what they received, but it must not be what I received because mine is of good quality. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to buy again. Solid tripod that extends and retracts very easily. When it's retracted and the legs are folded in, it's a very nice selfie stick. It's pretty thick, which makes it feel solid in the hand. I only have two small complaints. First, you can't rotate the the tripod without rotating the feet as well. I would prefer to just be able to rotate whatever I have attached to it (i.e., my camera), independent of the rest of the tripod. Second, the tripod legs can be a bit difficult to get open sometimes. Just seems a little tight, but it may bet better as I use it.

MOST of the features of this product are great. Height is excellent, the compact size is great (they make a super small version that only extends about 6" if you want something really small) the stability of the tripod BASE is excellent - but the higher you extend this, the less stable it will be and may even lean to one side. The magnet included in the twist off GoPro mount is a joke. Wouldn't hold anything in place because it's too weak. The biggest disappointment here is the handle. The ad (I took a screen shot and included it) clearly shows the textured grip area to be silicone. IT MOST DEFINITELY IS NOT. It is just plastic and very slippery, even with texture. This is a major failure by Ulanzi as this is not a light weight tripod stick. I found that it wanted to slip out of my hand several times before I even used it. I was able to quickly fix that with some clear rubberized bathtub strips I had on hand. This makes all the difference when holding it and now I don't feel like it will slip out of my hand. This is especially sad since the smaller version DOES have a rubberized textured grip. If they fixed the grip on the handle and stopped touting a useless magnet, this would be a 5/5.
