When I travel on the road, I sometimes like to bring a plate, a bowl, a cup, or flatware. I saw these various eating apparatuses and asked Amazon to review them. Before I got these, I had no idea what straw plastic was. I have found that it is a combination of plastic and wheat straw. The result is a product that is biodegradable (we are probably talking years here), strong, odor free, gluten free, dish washer safe, microwave safe and somewhat flexible. With this product you get servings for 8 people: 8 dishes, 8 cups, 8 bowls and 8 sets of flatware in their separate containers, all of which is made out of straw plastic. The cups (2.2 ounces) and bowls are pretty light weight. The plates are a little heavier (4.4 ounces) and you might be tempted to use them as a Frisbee. If you were deciding which one to take on a backpacking trip, you might want to choose the bowl. I am impressed by the strength and durability of material. I like the flatware, especially the fork and spoon. You can really bend them, and they don’t break. If I was still backpacking, I would consider bringing them. When I am on the road, I will definitely bring a set per person. They are all easily washable and the material is supposed to be anti-bacterial. I will no longer have to use plastic cups and flatware. If there were one thing that would have been nice, it would have been something that I could store these in.
