We use this little 550GPM pump in a Dutch Bucket hydroponic system. The system has 12 buckets and the pump pushes against about 5 feet of dynamic head. Needed a compact pump for the 3-tiered, shallow concrete bowl water feature in our back yard. The highest bowl's pipe stand is about 17" above the pump level. This little pump was the perfect fit. Easily pushes water up to create a lovely flow with no noise from the pump itself. Be sure to keep the pump submerged because it does not have an automatic shut off. Bought a much smaller pump based on published flow rate, but as we'll all read in reviews, these small pumps in general don't move the water volumes advertised. This is advertised at 550 gph which is ~9gm. A 3/4" garden hose with 70psi behind it is sort of in that range. That's a lot of water! Nope, this pump won't do anywhere near that even with zero outlet flow restriction. But we all knew that going in. This photo shows really good 1-2 gpm flow through 15" height of 1/2" tubing, which is perfect for my application. But this teaches me to buy fountain pumps with 10 times the advertised capability that I ultimately want. No sweat. I just recalibrate. I'll update this re longevity after some time and use has passed. 50 yrs MechEngr/machinist/mechanic hydraulics specialty experience....the world where advertised performance is real. This fountain pump world.....numbers are not real. 5 stars once I know to move the decimal over one click. :-) ... show more
