Using this stuff, you should have no problem getting a fire going. If you're looking to impress your friends by starting a fire using flint and steel, this will save you a lot of time and will likely prove more reliable than whatever else you can scavenge in the woods, and with a whole lot less preparation. I have done that. I didn't bother trying to impress my friends, but although I am hardly an experienced bushcrafter or frontiersman, I didn't have any trouble starting a fire using flint and steel. Most of you aren't going to be using flint and steel unless you count the flint and steel that come with your favorite lighter, you'll have an even easier time starting a fire with this. Touch a spark to one of these, and you'll have a fire that will burn long enough to ignite your tinder. I don't usually need to use this stuff because I can get a fire going with a few sheets of paper towel, but if my objective is to start a fire in my firepit in the rain, I can do that with the help of this fire starter. It rains here often, so I have used this stuff several times. One of these balls should be all you need to get a fire going, so a box will last a long time.

I used to use newspaper to start charcoal briquettes in a chimney starter and hardwood for my Ooni Karu 16 pizza oven. Newspaper works, but throws up a large amount of smoke as it burns through and I always feel for my neighbors and also hope no one calls the fire department. I decided to try these after seeing other live fire enthusiasts using on YouTube. Tired it in my pizza oven and was pleasantly surprised by the much lower volume of smoke while burning through. Effectively and efficiently started both mesquite hardwood and Kingsford charcoal briquettes. Highly recommend - Max Joy!

We have a small fire pit that uses wood pellets as fuel. The pellets can be hard to ignite and with this product you light it, it ignites and in a few minutes the pellets fire up into a nice ambiance.

They did not have the Duraflame starter logs that I normally use so I got these instead. They light a lot easier and get my fire going. I always start with 2, but usually end up using 3. We heat with a wood burning stove and I think I like these better.

Tried these for the first time last year and live them. Make sure you have some smaller dried kindling and seasoned wood. From start to finish, I have a fire going in less than 5 mins. Dont even hesitate getting these !
