Description

We offer raw green unroasted coffee beans for the home roaster who enjoys roasting their own coffee beans at home. Unroasted coffee beans must be roasted prior to use for brewing. Roasting coffee can be a very simple process, or it can be a real work of art created by an experienced artisan. The roasting process has always been a mysterious kind of thing considered to be a closely guarded process of proprietary roasting profiles kept only for the privileged artisans “in the know” with sophisticated commercial roasting equipment. In recent years this has changed substantially with the new wave of home coffee roasters trying their hand at the roasting craft. They have learned many of the tricks of time and temperature modulating their own flavor profiles creating their own works of art in the cup. Coffee is a universal drink loved by many people, some for-taste others seeking the caffeine but when you roast it at home it takes on a whole new appeal. Your coffee quest becomes an intensely personal adventure where you are in control of many aspects of taste results. Roasting is truly a rewarding experience where the more experience you get the better your coffee tastes. Basically, you heat the beans to around 400F to 450F in about 10-15 minutes time period. Once the beans reach your desired doneness or “brown” simply remove them from the heat and cool to room temperature as quickly as possible. After this you can use them to brew coffee! When you buy our beans, you can rest assured that you are getting fresh current crop beans from some of the best coffee plantations in the world. We believe that the best taste comes from premium high-altitude growing regions. We source our beans with great care, ensuring that the farmers are paid fairly for their time and product. When you buy our beans, you are supporting the communities in which beans were grown ensuring equity for all. Invest in our premium high-quality beans, taking your roasting experience to the next level!

  • Guatemala Huehuetenango are legit good
I've been roasting beans for 20 years, I don't usually go out of my way to write a review, but I think it's worth it for this bean. In my opinion, it's got exceptional flavor and is well worth the extra cost. I bought this type of bean from Sweet Maria's a couple of years ago and thought the same thing at the time. I kept looking for more of it, but it didn't seem available on there (or I just didn't check at the right time). When I saw it available on Amazon, I jumped at the chance to get 5 pounds. ... show more

  • Better value than ordering directly from supplier
Actually, these Guats came from SmokinBeans in Georgia. Not from AZN warehouse. Current date codes. Look & smell of beans seems same to me as direct from Smokin. Have ordered both ways; from AZN and from SmokinBeans. I use these Guatemala beans in my own blend. 1/3rd each Ethopia, Guatemala, & Columbia. A tri-fecta super blend of coffee we and guests alike complement. Nice thing about ordering from AZN, is free Prime shipping, no fussing with points, and arrives in a week. Shop, click, pay, beans on doorstep. Nice ! ... show more

  • Much more interesting than Guat. Antigua
I have been a fan of Smokin' Beans' Guatemalan Antigua which are far superior to the Antigua beans sold by another brand whose name sounds like they are first. I then tried these beans from farther west in Guatemala. These Huehuetenango beans have many more flavor profiles to offer than the merely excellent Antigua. The flavors of this varietal change remarkably as you pass first crack and continue to evolve as they darken into second crack and beyond. Since I roast in open pan style I remove about 1/3 of the beans as they just past first crack. As the beans get into second crack fully, I remove about 2/3 of the remaining beans and take what's left to dark roast; which in my setup is about two mins later. The darker roasts will mask the profiles of the lighter roasts and their flavors will be lost. This sequential roasting regime allows me to get all the flavors into my cup and I believe is the best way to handle these beans. Much more complex than the Antigua. ... show more
