These are essentially 1-connection junction boxes. This package has five such durable connectors. They are IP68 rated or INGRESS PROTECTION 6 (fully protected against dust), and 8 (can be submerged in water in depths up to 3.3 feet for up to 30 minutes without sustaining damage or that water can enter but only in such a manner that it is not harmful). The “6” is the highest rating against dust, and the “8” is the 2nd highest rating against water ingress that would cause a failure. They are ideal for round stranded/solid core cable for a perfect outdoor waterproof seal, but can be used for flat “Romex” wire for indoor use. The waterproofing capability comes from a tight seal between the green silicone rings/washers/gaskets, and the round body of the wire. With flatter Romex wires, a waterproof seal should not be expected. Three wire connectivity allows me to join the necessary LIVE (Usually black or red) and NEUTRAL (usually white), and a GROUND (usually green or bare wire). Three connection points allow that if I do not require a GROUND, then I’ll use only two pins in this connector. Each connection-hole on both sides are clearly labeled with a small letter to show which hole on each connector end is “L” for Live, “N” for Neutral and “G” for Ground. Install is easy with a small flat-tip or star-tip screwdriver. Be careful not to over tighten the screw securing the wire in the connection-hole. As the connector is PVC or similar material, the screws can strip. That did not happen to me, but the possibility is there and should not be ignored. Each connector comes with four green flattened O-rings of different sizes. Choosing the right one for the right wire size allows for a tight and waterproof fit. I like that sizing versatility. As an engineer, I will continue using these as convenient, compact, and where appropriate, waterproof junction boxes. However, when using these indoors, I will follow the electrical code for junction boxes, at least the accessible clause. That means installing this connector to be accessible and not sealed behind a wall or other impediment. Outdoors, I also make the connection accessible with a small sprinkler valve cover container. Overall, I found these connectors to work quite well, and like using them. Very convenient.

The media could not be loaded. Being in the middle of a landscape lighting project I saw these as being a solution for a couple of situations where I need to extend a trunk line which had been cut too short. I can see other potential uses being situations such as where a electrical cord was accidentally cut by a lawn mower, or to create a weatherproof connection to extend a line for holiday decorations. Each of the 5 waterproof connectors come with 3 different sized "seals" to fit various sized electrical cords. Or two different sized cords could even be joined using one of these connectors. Internally the 2-3 wires inside of each cord end is clamped into separate connection "sockets" and then the whole unit is sealed up with the black screw on connectors pressing against the softer colored gaskets at each of the two mid junctions and around each cord. It makes a tidy and compact connection point joining the two cords.
