Rinsed well prior to using. It was very dirty. I'm using as a natural landscape in an aquarium. The size, shape, and colors are perfect. Being pleased with the quality of rocks sounds strange, but I am satisfied with how this turned out. It meets my expectations for the use I had intended.

The media could not be loaded. The VINICS 5 lbs aquarium gravel is a pretty good value compared to chain pet stores. The video is of approximately 3/4s of the gravel in a 2.2gal glass tank with a curved glass front. I really like the natural color of the gravel and would say it's of equal quality to what you'd get at common pet stores. Follow the instructions to wash the gravel, it was quite dirty and clouded the cleaning water a lot. Overall I'm satisfied and have no issue recommending this gravel.

Really nice natural-looking sand/gravel for a small freshwater aquarium or to decorate planters for succulents. I ordered the smaller grain size and am happy with it. Has a nice, rich color when wet and looks great as substrate in my small fish bowl. I noticed after having the gravel in there for a while there was no difference in water chemistry from the water that comes from the tap, so this gravel does not change pH or hardness. Very happy with this product and would highly recommend.

This is just the stuff I was looking for! The color will work great for my craft projects. The size of the gravel is applicable for several scale sized objects I work on as a hobby. The gravel is clean with no other foreign material mixed with it. Great versatility: usable for my plants and small freshwater aquarium, as well as the crafts I create. The gravel arrived very quickly and of course, in terrific condition (aside from weight, gravel must be the best thing to ship!) soon after ordering. I thank the seller for providing such a durable product in a non-durable world.

I used about half of this bag (so maybe two pounds) into a nano-aquarium that will be mostly plants. It might also house a few small tetras or single betta. This listing offers three sizes, this small size is very small, basically sand, and I was afraid it would clog my filters. It does not, and it poured in very clean. The mechanical filtration on the tank cleaned up the dust within a few hours. The other sizes I didn't think would root very well. If I was using any kind of undergravel filtration this size would be too small. A water test before and after (there's nothing yet biological in the tank, no plants or fish) showed no changes to basic chemistry. I did not do a metals test or any other kind of toxicity to see if the gravel contained any leaching chemicals. It looks nice in the tank just sitting there, but... time to get planting.

It's decent for the price. My bag had a fair amount of sand mixed in with it. Also took forever to wash. Every time I did a rinse more and more cloudy water. Took much longer than the big box gravel I bought. Another thing, I was expecting more neutral/brown colors, for whatever reason my gravel looked kinda orangey. In the end I guess it's fine, I mixed it with other gravel that was more neutral.
