This is my review of the Vellgoo 5300 sq ft dehumidifier. (Model Taurus Pro-RCS50(Y)-N4-3) Our previous dehumidifier failed after about 7 years of service, so I decided to give the Vellgoo brand a try. So far, it’s been working great and I am very happy with it. We use the dehumidifier in our basement, and it has no trouble maintaining the humidity that I have set at 40%. The dehumidifier is typically sized for units of similar capacities. The control panel employs soft touch buttons, with audible feedback. There are small lights associated with each button to help the user determine if the proper mode, fan speed, timer, etc., has been selected. There’s also an LED display that is used to set the target humidity level, as well as the timer function. There are various modes that the unit can operate in, however, I chose to run it in custom mode, with a target humidity of 40%. From there, it turns itself on and off, and varies the fan speed as required. This dehumidifier has a three-speed fan to circulate the air through the unit. The ambient air is drawn in on a side panel through a washable filter, and the dry air is exhausted from the top panel. I typically run the fan speed on the medium setting and it moves plenty of air around our basement. The compressor sound is very quiet, and can only be heard slightly above the sound of the fan running on the medium setting. The dehumidifier collects the water in a removable bucket for easy disposal. The water can also be drained via the included drain hose for continuous use. The unit can be purchased with a built-in condensate pump; however, the unit I purchased does not have this feature. I was already using a standalone condensate pump with my old dehumidifier, so I decided to go with the same configuration on the new dehumidifier. This dehumidifier is ENERGY STAR Certified. The specifications indicate a maximum power draw of 600 watts. The compressor has a five-year warranty, which I am happy with. The remainder of the unit has a 1-year warranty, which can be extended to 2 years when the unit is registered with Vellgoo. I also am very happy with the Vellgoo customer service. I contacted them with questions I had about the operation of the unit, and they responded quickly, and completely. They made sure that all of my questions were taken care of, 100%. Overall, I am fully satisfied with the performance of the Vellgoo Taurus Pro dehumidifier. It is quiet, easy to operate, effective and efficient. I have no trouble giving it a 5-star rating. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an ENERGY STAR Certified dehumidifier.

I’m giving this product five stars as everything it was advertised to do, is working well. It quickly brought down the humidity in the rooms from near 75% to 45% on the auto comfort setting. Leaving the door to the upper level open, and we can feel the difference there as well. The garden hose attached easily to the pump, and within 15 minutes you could see water flowing out. Perfect size, and very nice features. Also extremely quiet, even on high fan mode. The automatic comfort mode level keeps the house between 45-50% which is a very healthy level, especially if you have allergies to mold. I’ll rate it again in a few months. Hopefully the pump holds up it will be running continuously given it’s in our lower level.

I've had this unit for several weeks. I had never heard of the Vellgoo brand prior to this purchase, but I decided to take a chance on it based on the reviews and the price point. I'm glad I did. So far, my impression is that it is a great unit. It is very well made and relatively quiet. Most importantly, it condenses a tremendous amount of water from the air. I have owned at least 8 dehumidifiers over the years, and at this point my opinion is that it is the best one I've ever owned. Its warranty gives me hope that it will perform well for several years.

Our new dehumidifier has done a great job of drying out our basement after a major rain storm in August dumped 11.3 inches of rain in our area. We had a few inches of water in the basement and the dehumidifier really worked well along with her other older dehumidifier.

Fan rattled, so got a replacement. The dehumidifier seems to work but the rattling sounds remains on and off. It probably is a design issue. It sits in the basement so I'm ok with the sound, however, the humidity measurement seems inaccurate, always shows 14% - 18% higher than humidity readings from another dehumidifier and my in-room Honeywell thermostat. I thought I'd set the humidity setting higher so it's calibrated to the actual humidity levels however the unit keeps running even when the room humidity is below set humidity threshold (the fan speeds up for some reason). Tried resetting multiple times and it behaves the same way. So it keeps running all the time consuming an average power of 6.8 - 8 KWH per day (measured using my smart plug). It restarts at times randomly (no sure what the logic is), and it does not seem to hold the settings after auto-restart. The unit heats up and water from the drain pipe condenses and forms puddle on the floor at times. Returning the item.

Review is for the Vellgoo 5000 sq ft dehumidifier, we have a large basement and use two dehumidifiers. This unit replaced an old one, it works so well at keeping humidity level at 40% the second unit we have rarely goes on. It is very quiet, seems like a quality model and has worked well for over a month and a half now. Like others have said it does have a smaller drain bucket but has a nice corner drain on the bucket to empty water, we empty it twice a day. Also as others have mentioned during shipping the drain bucket handle might flip up and block bucket from being removed, simply open small drain hose door on right side of unit and you can push down handle with your finger. Overall quite happy with this unit so far.
