    • Decent "Furniture" Dog Crate

This dog crate allows you to ditch the plastic one in your bedroom/living room and replace it with something that looks more like furniture. And, with a few cost-cutting measures, it does so at a reasonable price. The finished product (you assemble it yourself from a "flat pack") looks very nice. The engineering is good, so all the doors fit well, the screws and holes are aligned, and there are no gaps or other fit issues. The product is melamine (manufactured wood with a hard coat), and the hardware has a brushed nickel look. The screws and latches are acceptable (they work), but they are light weight, and I would have paid a bit more for some heft to them. But the melamine construction, flat-pack delivery, and inexpensive hardware are what allows them to sell at this price. Assembly took me 90 minutes, with no help (so it's a one-person job for someone with experience at this sort of thing). The instructions consist of pictures, with parts all given letters and numbers. You have to study them carefully to determine which end is up (I only had to back out the screws on one side and flip it around when I realized the holes on that side didn't align with the base). But the holes have pilot holes or punched guide holes to keep you aligned. And when I finished, the hinges, latches and slide bolts are worked smoothly. My dog didn't warm to it initially. I'm sure the plastic crate had come to seem more like home. But the crate was not part of the decor, and it had to go. And this crate allows you to upgrade your space at a competitive price point. ... show more

We loved it! This is so much more appealing to the eye than a regular dog crate. It is functional as a night stand, looks pretty, sturdy and is very cozy for my bulldogs. They loved it! It's a perfect place for them to feel safe and snug. Assembly was super easy! Its great quality other than the lock, it is flimsy but still works.
